Phase 1
Classroom teacher initiates
in-depth, systematic classroom
observation & evaluation of
student

Phase 2
Consultation with school based
The district honours the vital role of the learning support personnel
parents, and considers it best practice to
include them as partners in the process. It is
an expectation that parents be informed at
each step Phase 3
Classroom teacher and/or
learning support teachers
can make a referal to the
SBT for further assistance

The SBT determines


what additional support
is required and makes
referrals to appropriate
Learning Support
Services personnel

The school may place the student


on a waitlist for a psych ed
assessment by school psychologist
(Or family may choose to seek
private assessment)
