Textbook questions :
1. When I was depressed about my performance at school, my parents were on a business trip so I
could not confide in them. Therefore, I decided to write all my negative feelings and post it on
Facebook. Fortunately, despite negative comments I made, my friends were here to read and
empathize with me, they also encouraged me a lot.
2. The reasons why visual and verbal supports are important :
 It helps the speech, the presentation become more interesting. The audiences get bored
easily, they need something get their attention. Adding visual and verbal supports can
make them focus more on the presentation.
 It increases the understanding. It is hard to remember the data without pictures or
strong impressions. To get audiences memorize what they were informed, a nice picture
or a strong performance would help.
 sPeople do not trust on something without evidences. Using charts and data can make
the presentation more believable.
3. Things could do to make the document as effective as possible :
 Make a great design to the brochure.
 Do research to give the student brief and interesting information.
 Give out the brochure with instruction on how to use it effectively.
 Be ready to answer if there are any questions about the document.
 Show the enthusiasm and dynamism to the student in order to make them feel
interested in the brochure.
4. I do not think it is ethical for the writer to present the research in their own language. For
example, the writer may use expressing words in the report and the people read it can
misunderstand the information. A report has to be correct, informative and truthful, there is no
need to have the writer’s opinion or the way they apply their language in, so that the report can
be evaluate fairly.
5. The strategies I use to overcome presentation anxiety :
 Prepare a scprit for what I am going talk about
 Practice public speaking myself or in front my siblings

Portfolio Reflection :
The most valuable lession I have learned from this session is how to bring the best perfomance in public
speaking and writing report, email. Although it is not easy to practice speaking and writing at first, after
non-stop practicing, I feel the improvement of myself, no more anxiety and unconfidence. The strategies
on both writing and speaking skill in the textbook help me a lot in practicing and applying in real life.
Moreover, visual and verbal supports are things to reinforce and strengthen my perfomance at the
moment and in the future. After finishing this session, I definitely aquire knowledge about delivering the
message through verbal and non-verbal method, I will try to have an insight into what I have learned
and apply it for future occupation.
