CRITIC PAPER FOR FEBRUARY 28, 2021 FACILITATION

SACANLE, Sean Charles T.

While some inherent characteristics of a certain individual were acquired due to the
influence of personal factors, some characteristics of the human person were inherited to their
bloodline relatives. This claim has been supported by literatures and studies on genetics which
has been the focal point of last week’s meeting, February 28, 2021. The meeting was facilitated
by Ms. Alelei Umali and it commenced at exactly 8:03 in the evening.

The facilitator asked a set of questions at the beginning of the meeting. Most of the
questions were about the current state of our physical and mental well-being. Most of my
responses to the questions were positive, since I was feeling good that day and it was my
mother’s birthday. Some scholars volunteered to present their responses, however we were
required to take note of our answers since it will be included in our critic paper. After the activity
mentioned earlier, Ms. Umali proceeded with the lecture part of his presentation. She presented
a lot of statistical data and scientific studies, which is an extremely good point of her
presentation. After the discussion, all of the scholars shared their thoughts regarding the topic of
“substance abuse”, which is also relevant to the overarching theme of the meeting. Since the
expected end time of Ms. Umali’s presentation has been long overdue, Ms. Gaudiano decided
to interpose the main activity in the critic paper that we will pass.

Ms. Umali’s presentation has its silver lining and downside aspects. On the plus side, I
commend her eagerness to read and research about her chosen topic. The scientific basis and
other literatures that were evident on her presentation serve as a proof for her preparedness for
the meeting as a facilitator. She also tried to explore outside the premises of her gathered
information and gave us her personal insight or stance regarding a certain idea. For the areas
for improvement, I believe that she should have collaborated with our fellow scholars
specializing on the field related to her chosen topic. On that way, our fellow scholars could have
helped in reviewing her visual aids or if possible, being a co-presenter on her facilitation. Overall
her presentation was successful. Although it was a lengthy presentation, I learned a lot from the
lecture per se and from the shared insights of my co-scholars.
