ACTIVITIES FOR THE MONTH OF FEBRUARY

 MATHIRA MATHIBAY: Mathematics Competition 2021

- Last February 11, 2021, I joined a math competition as a part of the College of
Science week. A lot of students from the Department of Mathematics and
Department of Engineering participated in the said event. The program started at
exactly 8:00 AM, wherein the participants were welcomed and the judges for the
event were introduced. The first round of the contest, which is the elimination
round/written type, commenced at exactly 8:30 AM. We were given 30 minutes to
finish a 40-item written exam consisting of questions about Logic, Algebra,
Trigonometry, Analytical Geometry, and Calculus. I finished at 8:54 and I spent the
remaining time rechecking my answers. Fortunately, I passed the elimination round
and out of 63 participants; I qualified for the top 10 participants who will compete for
the oral math competition. It was a thrilling and intense competition, the scores were
close and I finished as the 5th placer for the math competition. Although I did not
qualify for the Top 3 scorers, I am elated because I consider it as one of my top
achievements for this year and once again, I experienced the thrilling sensation of
participating in a competition.

 FINAL EXAMS WEEK

- For the final exams week, I did not have enough sleep since I was preparing a lot
and most of my exams were scheduled at 7:00 AM. Since I am aiming to be in the
President’s list for this semester, I am motivated to grind harder and step up my
game. Fortunately, my hard work and sleepless nights paid off. I got high and perfect
scores in all of my final exams. However, among the exams that I took I am
especially proud with my performance in my Calculus final exam. Supposedly, the
schedule of my final exam in Calculus is on February 26, 2021; however due to the
conflict in schedule (my brother and I have an exam on the same day and time) I
decided to be the first one to take the final exam in Calculus in our section. It was a
little bit uncomfortable since my professor is also solving the question in the exam,
while she is closely watching my computation for every item. In the end, I got a high
score and I am very proud because I proved that despite the current learning setup, I
can still uphold integrity and honesty, while maintaining academic excellence.
ATTENDANCE FOR THE MONTH OF FEBRUARY

February.
 No record of tardiness

ACHIEVEMENTS FOR THE MONTH OF FEBRUARY

 I got high and perfect scores on my final exams

 I ranked as the 5th placer in a mathematics competition
 I survived the first semester
 I learned a lot from my past mistakes and I am consistently trying to be a better version
of myself

PROBLEMS ENCOUNTERED

 Lots of sleepless nights

 This past month I had a really limited interaction with my friends since I completed all of
the necessary academic requirements and I prepared for my major exam. I also realized
that the statement mentioned thereof was a great mistake of mine, since my friends and
other confidants are essential and greatly helpful in cheering me up and motivating me in
times that I feel frustrated or disappointed.
