NARRATIVE REPORT ON VIRTUAL IN-SERVICE TRAINING FOR TEACHERS

In line with the DepEd Order No. 012, s. 2021 (Amendment to DepEd Order No. 030, s. 2020), the
Information and Communications Technology Service – Educational Technology Unit (ICTS-EdTech)
conducted a virtual In-Service Training (INSET) for teachers on 15-19 March 2021.
The Division of Danao City thru Memorandum No. 87 s. 2021 informed the field about the event. With
this, our district under the supervision of Mrs. Ma. Concepcion E. Batulan as District 8 PSDS, was indeed very
careful in handling the training. And so, school heads were assigned as facilitators and on their side, ICT
coordinators who were handling internet connection concerns.
The five-day session helps to further expand the teachers’ skills and knowledge on different digital
teaching materials, systems, and approaches that are useful in delivering quality instruction under new normal
approach.
Amid the public health crisis, the teachers actively joined the training but never forgets the health safety
protocols. The division nurse assigned in our district was very keen in getting our temperature regularly and
reminding us to always sanitize. Along the duration of the training, attendance was checked regularly in the
morning and in the afternoon.
Before the activity starts, every morning we have an exercise by dancing Zumba Tiktok compilations. It
was everything if it comes to dancing and for sure, it was not just dancing but also laughing more than ever. Our
lunch was prepared by Giedan’s catering in which we believed has won the bidding. Mr. Danilo Abello as the
head of the catering delivered food packs in the school following the menu.
In the beginning of the training, we were to log in our account at DepEd Learning Management Systems
at Region 7 online tenants either r7-1.lms.deped.gov.ph or r7-2.lms.deped.gov.ph. During the duration of the
training, there were some internet connection problems met as well as internet traffic. We were informed about
this earlier and we therefore had patience on the situation.
It has been mind-boggling since knowing that after every session we have quiz to take on. And so, we
reminded ourselves to jot down notes and listen attentively to the speakers. This has been overwhelming for it
develops good habits during the discussion that we may participate effectively especially during hands-on
activity.
We, teachers needed more time in finishing the quiz so we can get the certificates every now and then.
Even spending more hours at home, to get the timing when connection is faster. There must be 18 certificates,
including the Certificate of Recognition for the 40-hour participation. And yet, we were helping one another to
completely indulge because we always believe in the spirit of cooperation.
With the help of God, each one of us made it to get the Certificate of Recognition on Friday.
In the light of this, we come to realization that we really need this kind of training which is timely and
conventional with the educational setting that is new and changing. Indeed, it ends well and hopefully, we will
see another training enjoyed by teachers virtually.
