1 General
This document describes the procedure for using the Single Aisle Enhanced Flight Attendant
Panel (FAP) trainer.
The FAP Trainer allows cabin and/or maintenance crews the ability to learn the operation of the
flight attendant panel in a classroom environment.
The FAP Trainer includes different customized configurations based on the Airbus A318, A319,
A320 and A321 models.

2 Training Modes
The FAP Trainer can be used in three training modes which are described below:
Free-play Mode
Mobile Fap Trainer Mode
Multi trainees Mode
This mode is designed to work on a single station (from hard disk or CD-ROM).
When the FAP software is launched, it loads default parameters (defined by the administrator).
In this mode, the tool bar or a single button “>>> IOS” appears and permits to control some
parameters (see below) and to launch the IOS program.
The IOS software button or the single button “>>> IOS” permits the user to launch the IOS
program. However access to the IOS program is protected by an instructor password. The IOS
software permits control of the FAP station simulation with all the features described in §4.
The cross button in the top left of the FAP window allows the user to exit the program (see
§3).
This mobile training mode permits the user to work with two stations: the first for the FAP
software, and the second for the IOS software. In this mode the two stations are powered up
from the mobile general power switch.
On the FAP station, the FAP software (when launched) loads default parameters (defined by
the administrator). In this mode, the tool bar is not visible.
The IOS software permits the user to control the simulation of the FAP station with all the
features described in §4.
Both programs and stations automatically shut down when the instructor exits from the IOS
program.

This training mode permits users to work with one IOS station, and up to twelve student
stations.
When the FAP is launched on Instructor Station and on each Trainee station, the FAP window
appears based on the default A340 airline configuration.
On each FAP station, the FAP software (when launched) loads default parameters (defined by
the administrator). In this mode, the tool bar is not available.
The IOS software permits the instructor to control the simulation of all the FAP stations with all
the features described in §4.
In the IOS program, the QUIT button permits users to exit the program (see §4.4).
The cross button in the top left of the FAP window allows users to exit from the FAP program
(see §3).

This window displays a specific page depending on the current function selected in the
Functions Window.
In the All FAP case, sometimes some states may not be the same for all FAPs. For example,
the Door 1L open on FAP 1, Door 1L closed on FAP 2. In this case (Door 1L open/close status)
is called an indeterminate state.
When a state is indeterminate, the Apply Changes button keeps that state unchanged for each
FAP station.
In all pages, this button permits to apply information of the current page to the selected FAP
(or all FAP stations if the “ALL FAP STATIONS” button if selected).
The “APPLY CHANGES” button is always located on the bottom-right corner of the status
window.
This button is not present in all the pages of the A/C STATUS group. When available, it allows
to get all the information of the current A/C STATUS page from the selected FAP station (or all
FAP stations if the ALL FAP STATIONS button is selected). As soon as this button as been
pressed the current page is updated regarding to the state of the selected FAP station(s).
When the “SYNCHRONIZE” button is present in the status window, it is always located above
the “APPLY CHANGES” button.

All the pages of the EVENTS functions are sharing the same behavior. For each page, a list of
events is provided. Many events can be selected by the instructor at the same time. To apply a
single event (or several events) to the selected FAP station (or all the FAP stations if the “ALL
FAP STATIONS” is selected), the instructor must select it (them) into the list and press the
“APPLY CHANGES” button.
As soon as the “APPLY CHANGES” button has been pressed, the selected events are sent to the
selected FAP stations and messages are displayed on the FAP stations indicating that an event
appeared.
If the “ALL FAP STATIONS” button is selected from the “FAP station selection bar”, the list
displays all active events and a grid is also displayed to show all the FAP stations for which the
event is active.
For example, the following grid shows that the FAP stations 1, 6 and 9 are concerned by the
event.
<- states of the FAP stations #1,#2,#3,#4,#5,#6 and the instructor station #13
<- states of the FAP stations #7,#8,#9,#10,#11,#12
In addition to the “APPLY CHANGES BUTTON”, 2 buttons are provided to repair or reset events,
these button are :
The “REPAIR SELECTED” button is used to remove only the active selected events. If the
“ALL FAP STATIONS” button is selected, the active selected events will be removed on all the
FAP stations. The “REPAIR ALL” button is used to remove all the active events.
The “RESET ALL” button allows to remove all active events and to clear the event logs/lists
associated to the selected FAP station for the corresponding page (or all FAP stations if the
“ALL FAP STATIONS” button is selected). When the “RESET ALL” button is present in a page
the corresponding list of logs is described in this user’s manual.
The 3 buttons described above are exclusives and only one action can be sent to the selected
FAP station (or all FAP stations if the “ALL FAP STATIONS” button is selected) at the same
time.
To apply the changes caused by the 3 buttons described above, the instructor has to press the
“APPLY CHANGES” button.
