2. Standard units
These units are used to measure the height or length of an object using a standard tool.
They do not change based on the person using it.
Examples: Standard units are centimetre (cm), metre (m) , kilometre (km)
Standard units
● cm ------ Centimetre
● m ------ Meter
● km ------ Kilometer
1 metre = 100 cm
1 km = 1000 m
Note:
1. Smaller objects are measured in centimetres.
2. Longer heights / lengths are measured in metres.
3. Distances are measured in kilometers.
Q1. How do you measure the length of an object that does not have a straight line?
Example :
Answer : We can use a non - standard tool such as a string or thread and ruler (to measure
the string / thread )
