8:00-9:30am Event set up - Volunteers - Staff/Teacher Aides - Students - Set up all necessary equipment on the oval 9:30-9:35am Welcome to STEM Event - Assemble in under covered area near oval o Break into - Greet STEM Experts groups - Greet parents, guests, students - Read out task card to students - Organise into groups - Move to rotations 9:35-10:00am Packaging Option 1 - Groups 1-4 will begin here Construction - Students work together to construct their first designed packaging option using plastic and foam materials - Students can revise/change design, test product and make modifications during this time - Students then rotate to next rotation - Supervised by teachers and volunteers - Experts rotate between two rotations 10:00-10:25am Packaging Option 2 - Groups 5-8 will begin here Construction - Students work together to construct their first designed packaging option using paper and material - Students can revise/change design, test product and make modifications during this time - Supervised by teachers and volunteers - Experts rotate between two rotations 10:25am-10:30 Presentation of Awards - Thank STEM experts for Experts - Students hand out awards for experts Final Thankyou - Experts hand out award for most innovative design and teamwork award - Opportunity for final questions - Event coordinator thanks everyone who attended and helped with this event - Special thanks for people who donated resources - Instructions given to students (stay with group and hold only designs – move back to class) 10:30-11:30am Event pack up - Students, parents/volunteers, staff and TA stay back to pack up event and clean up mess made Note: Final Testing - Final testing takes place at the classroom These 2 Packaging - All students watch other teams and cheer each other on elements Designs Tested - Students test their packaging options and see which one is the best of the back in the in regards to making sure the egg does not crack event will classroom in the - Testing is recorded and submitted for parents to view in class files take afternoon place session after the event in the classroom Presentation of - Principal presents special awards (photos) Student Awards - Awards are presented during class time - Photos from event are hung in classroom and published in the newsletter
