Identify Control Measures to be Implemented


 All work under control of a qualified and experienced Electrician – this work will require a team.
 Trenches will be provided by others who should also provide suitable protection against collapse, falls, vehicles etc.
 Electrical workers will identify any concerns to the person responsible.
 Visual survey of area for other services, consider need for supplies to be isolated before commencement of work.
 Operatives at ground level are expected to monitor adherence to the barriers.
 Project planning will agree the means of access to the excavation. Ladders are likely to be suitable provided that they are in good condition and
secured.
 On the large drums a person will control the feed from the drum.
 Basics in Manual Handling included as part of training. Gloves available to improve grip and reduce rope custs/bums.
 High standards of housekeeping.
 Safety Officer to undertake site inspections to monitor standards.
 Do not position heavy machinery close to the excavation without adequate shoring (consult your structural / geotechnical engineer).
 Do not enter the excavation without specific risk assessment being completed and never enter an un shored excavation.
 Instructions, Information, Toolbox talks, Supervision.
