A DETAILED LESSON PLAN IN SCIENCE GRADE III

I. Objectives
At the end of the lesson the pupils should be able to:

· Define habitat.

· Organize animals according to their habitat.

· Classify animals according to their habitat.

· Participate actively in group activities.

II. Subject matter

Topic: Habitat of the Animal

Reference: Science and Health 3 by Carmelita C. Coronel (pages 70 – 73)

Materials: Power point presentation, Manila paper and Pictures

Value Focus: Taking care of the animals.

Very good class, all of you are present. Since all of you are here. Let’s start our day.
Review

Class, yesterday we learned about the sound of animals. Let’s see if you can still remember.

I have here pictures of animals; all you have to do is make the sound of the animal as I flash the picture.

B. Motivation

So, now class lets go on to our new lesson but before that we will have a game. It is called pick a
picture.

I have here pictures of animals, all you have to do is pick a picture from me, say the name of the animal
and post it under the name of place where you usually see it. We have here a pond, farm and forest.

I can see animals in the pond, like dragonfly, frog, butterfly, duck, snail and turtle.
In the farm, there are animals like cow, goat horse and chicken.

I can see snake, monkey, rabbit and tiger in the forest.

Now class, look at the pictures; what do you call ponds, farms and forest?

That’s right class, ponds, farms and forest are where the animals live and it is called habitat.

Now class, do you want another game?

Okay, so let’s have a Team Game.

Let’s divide the class into three groups.

All groups please form a line at the back.

I have here a slide presentation with different animals; all you have to do is identify their habitats.
I will need three volunteer to stand here and hold the name of the habitats. Each member of the group
will race to the correct habitat and clap 3 times if the animal is found in the pond. If the animal is found
in the farm, stump your feet 3 times and if the animal is found in the forest the group 3 will shout
hooray.

Now, let’s have an activity.

Let’s again divide the class into three groups.

I have here jumbled letters of different names of animals; all you have to do is form them to form the
name of the animal.
