Alumni Day is one of my favorite days of the school

year. It is an opportunity for Loy Norrix graduates to
come back home and share their experiences with
current high school students. The hope is that this
experience will open up possible ideas for our current
students. Many students may not know what to
expect or what kind of options there are after high
school. Hearing the stories of transition can be very
powerful and thought provoking.

For the graduates, it is an opportunity to give back to

their high school and catch up with former teachers. I
hope that any graduate who hasn’t signed up yet will
very soon. This will take place on Friday December
18th during fifth period (1:55pm – 2:50pm) and will be
virtual.

Esports
news!
The Overwatch
esports team
participated in the
Michigan High
School Esports
Federation's state
tournament this past
Friday, December 4th.
They fought hard all the
way to the state finals but fell
agonizingly short of defending their state title, losing 4-2
in their match score. The kids played hard and stayed
positive all throughout the match. They represented well
and their play would have made any Norrix fan proud!

The Rocket League team also participated in the state

tournament on Saturday, December 5th. They cruised into
the semifinals where they were eventually defeated by
the top-ranked Detroit Catholic Central team. Norrix
ultimately placed fourth in the state. The team played
well and looks to greater success in the future as they
return many key players next year. Congratulations to
both teams on a great season!

This upcoming winter will see the esports club participate

in Super Smash Brothers Ultimate, Fortnite, and Rocket
League Duos tournaments. There will also be competition
in a special tournament for Overwatch on PC and League
of Legends. Please contact Mr. Greeley at

in representing Loy Norrix in these game titles.

 Travel Club 2020-2021
Travel Club will be holding a zoom meeting in
January for all travelers signed on for our 3 trips of
2021 and any potential new travelers who would
like to join.
While travel will only happen if allowed, we are
optimistic that our adventures will go forth. In
addition we are highlighting the trip for 2022 - Paris,
the Normandy Coast and London. Watch for details
and join us.
