SUB-PLATE COUPLING

The sub-plate coupling is made of plastic material (high density polyethylene) equal to that employed for
the creation of the cap, and then characterized by chemical and physical properties for which it is possible
to preserve its structural strength in the period of exposure to ultraviolet rays.
It is recommended to protect the material in storage areas, avoiding exposure to the elements and protect
it until the time of installation.
There are two different types of sub-plate:

1. Used to cover the entire range of anchors up to those composed by 5 strands;

2. Used to cover the entire range of anchors from those composed by 6 strands up to those composed
by 9 strands (and more).

Both geometrical representation have been reported in the following.

About the installation procedures, it is import to follow the steps reported below:

1) Insert the anchors partially into the housing hole previously made;
2) Fit the sub-plate in the terminal part of the smooth sheath (or corrugated sheath), keeping the
latter stops and pushing the sub-plate toward the same sheath;
3) Making five layers of taping at the junction between the sub-plate and the sheath (also extend the
taping on the sheath and on the part of the sub-plate left external to the sheath smooth) by
insulating tape and subsequently cloth tape (the latter provided by the ISI Italia s.r.l.).
4) Complete the steps of installation of the anchors.

Following the procedure of taping before identified, it is possible to avoid the detachment of the two
components. This was also demonstrated through a test carried out in the factory, by applying a total load
(documentable) equal to 165.00 kg (tensile load applied to the end of the smooth sheath connected to the
back plate, by means of the taping described above).
The load condition is assumed greater than the stress to which the anchors will be subject during its
structural life; there being no structural situation that requires a traction force applied on the junction
between the plate and the smooth sheath, equal to that realized in the test.
The hermetic seal, it is also ensured by the two types of taping and by the clear overlap of the elements
(sub-plate and smooth sheath).
