Levels of Technology Integration:

X Infusion Level: Students may work at a higher Bloom’s Level, but they do not have any “Voice or Choice”
during the activity and most of the decisions are made by the teacher.

☐ Integration Level: We would like to see ALL lessons/activities reach this level. The project is student-
driven. Students have “Voice and Choice” in the activities, selecting the topic of study and determining the
technology tool to demonstrate mastery of the standard. The teacher becomes more of a facilitator.
☐ Expansion Level: The projects created are shared outside of the classroom, publishing student work and
promoting authorship. This could be reached by showcasing the project on the school’s morning
newscast, posting the project to the classroom blog, or publishing via an outside source.

Universal Design for Learning (UDL): This activity that I have planned supports all students by allowing for the
opportunity to address all Universal Design for Learning principles. There are multiple means of
representation by allowing there to edits made to the problems and allowing for changes to be made that
benefit the students learning needs. There are also multiple means of action and expression. This can be done
by giving the students different options on the software to express what they have learned or accomplished

or give them the chance to explain verbally why they did what they did. Lastly there will be multiple means of
engagement by creating fun and individualized content practices that motivate the students to participate.

Lesson idea implementation: How I will begin my lesson is by gaining a clear grasp on who is understanding
the content and who needs more practice or individualized work on the content. This could be accomplished
by some sort of pre-test that will give me an accurate range of who needs to participate in the practice. The
project will be introduced by pairing the students up with partners that would benefit their learning
experiences based on their pre-test scores. Once the students have been paired up they will be asked to
discuss their answers for a short period of time. Then the students will be told to go to Khan Academy using
the link I give them. The students will watch a video and practice the questions together while I walk around
and scaffold wherever is needed. Once I feel like the group has gained an understanding of the content they
will be asked to complete some of the questions by themselves. (If there is time) As an exit ticket I will ask
them to share one question with the class and how they got their answer. I will see the results and grade
them accordingly.

This project should take about 30-40 minutes to complete. I will be able to differentiate learning by changing
the questions to be whatever the students need to work on the most. I will extend the student learning to a
higher level by having them work on the questions by themselves. The lesson will be concluded by giving
them an exit ticket where they can share with the class what they have learned. I will provide feedback the
next day by discussing with the students individually what they need to work on and what they did a good job
with. I will provide resources to use in order to improve their math skills in that topic.

Reflective Practice: This lesson idea can impact student learning by creating tasks that force the students to
engage with and understand the content. The students’ individual needs can be met by changing the
questions or the format of answering the questions so that there is representation in the software. I also feel
as if the more the students are exposed to this practice, the better they will get at the math content. This
lesson could be further extended by allowing the students more time to work with their peers. I think it would
help them to be exposed to all types of mathematical thinking on the topic at hand. Some other technology
tools that could be used to enhance this project could include instructional games or more videos to watch on
the content.
