Content Standard Addressed:

Students use technology to seek feedback that informs and improves their practice and to
demonstrate their learning in a variety of ways.

Levels of Technology Integration:

X Infusion Level: Students may work at a higher Bloom’s Level, but they do not have any “Voice or Choice”
during the activity and most of the decisions are made by the teacher.

☐Integration Level: We would like to see ALL lessons/activities reach this level. The project is student-driven.
Students have “Voice and Choice” in the activities, selecting the topic of study and determining the
technology tool to demonstrate mastery of the standard. The teacher becomes more of a facilitator.

☐ Expansion Level: The projects created are shared outside of the classroom, publishing student work and
promoting authorship. This could be reached by showcasing the project on the school’s morning newscast,
posting the project to the classroom blog, or publishing via an outside source.

Universal Design for Learning (UDL):

Incorporating support for differentiation, student engagement and high order of thinking is the pillar to this
lesson. Students will be reviewing math measurement concepts through online games. The students will
have access to these games through web access or the app. The activity enhances students' understanding of
the math concepts. The students will be engaged through competing with their peers. The game will be
available outside of school so students will get the chance to practice their math skills at home. All of the
students will get a chance in class to play the games. Some students may require assistive technology to play
such as a personalized keyboard that is accessible. Students will remain engaged through activities about
measurement that they find most interesting. High order thinking questions will be presented by the teacher
as an exit slip.

Lesson idea implementation:

The students will have 30 minutes of class time to practice their math and measurement skills with the games.
The students will use a classroom code so they will see the top 3 scores in the classroom. The teacher will
have access to all of the students' scores and will monitor progress as the students play the game. If the
teacher notices a student not understanding the concept of the game or the math skill at all, they will go over
and assist the student. The students will be asked questions relating to the math skills after they have
practiced the skills for 30 minutes. These questions will be at least level 4 on bloom's taxonomy. Students will
be able to see their own score in the game and the areas that need additional support. For students who did
not reach a certain level/score in the game, they will continue practicing at home.

Reflective Practice:

I believe this activity would positively affect student learning and engagement in the content area. Many
students struggle to engage in math but through activities such as games, they regain interest. To further
extend the activity, this game could be used as an introduction of the next math concept that we will review
in relation to the game. Other technology tools that could enhance this project are color changing lights,
projection, and manipulatives.
