PROJECT TITLE: RENOVATION OF HANDWASHING FACILITY

PROJECT SITE: Upper Tugar Elementary School, Tugar, Kauswagan, Lanao del Norte

II.GENERAL INFORMATION
A. DESCRIPTION:
This renovation of handwashing facility project is in line with policy guidelines in the preparation
of Gender and Development Program (GAD) plan and utilization of GAD budget in light with the COVID-
19 preparations of schools.
The projects’ budget will be charge against the 5% Gender and Development fund of the
school amounting P 9,262.50 based from the school’s MOOE.

D. RATIONALE

School environment and safety are important factors affecting pupils learning especially I this
trying times of COVID pandemic. It has been always emphasized by the World Health Organization
(WHO), Inter-Agency Task Force (IATF) that frequent handwashing is one of ways to combat the spread
of the virus.
For the previous years, the school have been using the shared faucet as the common hand
washing area which was constructed years ago. Thus, its present condition seems to be unpleasant for
the users especially the learners of Upper Tugar Elementary School.
As a school, our responsibility to our learners encompasses every aspect of their health, safety
and comfort. One area of that responsibility that is going to overlook is the handwashing facilities, but
the fact is that to maintain an acceptable level of cleanliness and hygiene, the handwashing area
should also have a constant water supply and must be upgraded into a standard handwashing counter.
With this, in response to the call of WHO and in line with the Minimum health standards in
schools provided by the DepEd, the primary concern now is to renovate the existing handwashing
counter for the learners in order for them comfortably use it for their sanitation and to fight the spread
of the virus in the school.

E. OBJECTIVE:
To renovate a school handwashing facility at the end month of July 2021 through the use of the
5% Gender and Development (GAD) Fund of the school.
