M2.1 – Hydrant Connection

GENERAL INFORMATION
Directions: Given a section of large diameter fire hose, required tools, and appliances you will
demonstrate properly mounting and dismounting fire apparatus and the procedure for making a hydrant
connection in 4 minutes or less while donned in full PPE and starting from a seated and belted position
in an enclosed fire apparatus cab.
Objective: Demonstrate a hydrant connection using large diameter supply hose. (OSFM 2-10.37, 2-
10.38, 2-10.39)
NFPA 1001, 2013 Ed. Task: Respond to an emergency scene and connect a fire department
5.3.2, 5.3.15 JPR apparatus to a water supply.

the discharge, leaving the water flowing until it turns clear.

8. Connected the hose to the hydrant, using an appropriate adapter, if ___ / 1

10. While standing behind the hydrant, away from the outlets, fully opened ___ / 1
