PURPOSE
This method statement includes and covers the working methodology for Cement Sand
Plastering woks in the buildings.
This working methodology explains the general method statement of work sequences in
accordance to the relevant project specification irrespective to the approval of materials.
Material submittals and approvals shall be processed simultaneously at the same time but
separately.
SCOPE
• This document covers and describes the procedure for plastering on walls and roofs.
• It is be used in conjunction with all other contract documents, procedures, specifications and
drawings.
RESPONSIBILITIES
It is the overall responsibility of PTJ to organize resources to perform construction activities
as per project specification, in compliance with quality, schedule and safety requirements.

PREPARATORY WORKS
• All plaster accessories such stop beads, angle beads, mesh shall be hot dip galvanized and
approved by Company.
• Clean the surface and remove any dust, contaminated materials on plaster bases and sub-
strates for direct application of plaster, removing loose material and substances that may im-
pair the work. Form ties and other obstruction shall be removed or trimmed back even with
the surface of the solid base.
• Applying mesh over embedded conduits for covering and protection.
• Angle bead shall be provided/installed at the walls corners.
• Using Plaster stop bead where plastering terminates and not covered by other finish at wall,
ceiling, door, window frame junctions and wall openings.
• Apply forcefully Scratch coat on concrete and concrete masonry surfaces indicated for direct
plaster application. Scratch coat is to cover full surface to be plastered and is to provide

Floating coat and Dots, dashes with the required thickness and distance to be
performed in sequence to ensure the quality of work.
• In case of false ceiling is provided, plastering of wall shall be extended beyond the false
ceiling level as required for proper installation of false ceiling.
• All mortar shall be prepared by using sufficient water to produce a workable consistency.
After adding all the ingredients, the plaster should be mixed for a further few minutes. Plas-
ter not used within 1.5 hours from start of mixing shall be discarded.
• The Floated coat shall be applied with sufficient material and pressure to ensure tight con-
tact with Scratch coat.
• The surface of the Floated coat 6- 8 mm shall be brought to a true, even plane with a rod or
straightedge, filling surface defects in place with plaster.
• Applied plaster shall be floated as smooth as possible and then steel-troweled. Steel trow-
eling shall be delayed as long.
• Each plaster coat shall be applied to an entire wall or ceiling panel without interruption to
avoid cold joints and abrupt changes in the uniform appearance of succeeding coats. Wet
plaster shall abut set.
• Finished grooves shall be neat, of uniform width and depth, sharp straight edges and exact
vertical and horizontal lines. Elevation grooves shall be cut before plaster sets by using
molded guide or wooden strip.
• Time & method of curing for 1st coat according to data sheet of material.
CURING
Curing of Plastered surface shall be continued for 3 days by sprinkling of water twice a day.
CLEANING
• At the end of each workday, remove unused materials, debris and container from the work
area.
• Remove empty cans, Shaker, rags, rubbish and other un-used materials from the site to
the approved area.
• To correct inaccuracies in beam, column together with block work, chip carefully the con-
crete structures by using hammer and chisel to receive Scratch coat.
PROTECTION
• Protect the work from damaging by leaving the final layer until it goes hardened, warning
tape can be used for that.
HSE REQUIREMENTS
• Personal protective equipment PPE shall be worn full time, wearing gloves is mandatory.
• Proper access to the work area shall be maintained throughout the working period.
• All the plastering materials and tools shall be stored as per manufacture’s recommendation
in a correct manner specially in case of using of ready mix shakers.
• Working at height recommendation shall be followed, and all personnel working at height
shall be trained and must wear complete safety harness with 100% tie on.
QUALITY CONTROL
• Q.C is responsible for quality of material resources and to submit document for approval of
all construction activities as per quality plan to ensure that the work procedure as the pro-
ject specification.
