Procedure for casting reinforced concrete for R.C Slabs &Beams works
(400 kg/cm2): -

1‐ Survey work:

 Mark the lines and levels of the slabs to be casting.

 Ensure levels for final casting as per IFC drawings &approved concrete
dimension SD.
 Check level, coordinates and alignment of formworks.

2‐ Form Work:

 Form works will be constructed according to the R.C Slabs &Beams structural levels
indicated in the approved shop drawings& approved formwork design.
 Scaffolding will be constructed according to the reinforced slab structural levels
indicated in the approved shop drawings and IFC drawings and approved formwork
design.
  Decking of slabs started after finalizing of supporting system over the shore system.
 Plywood shall be spread over span using plywood sheet 18 mm thickness creating
the flat slabs with its drop panel at intersection &outer wall strips.
 Adequate supports will be used to support the formworks to support and achieve the
required levels.
 Form works will be accurately levelled with sharp.
 Joints and gaps in formworks will be tightly closed to avoid any losses.
 Form works internal faces will be cleaned and painted with suitable releasing agent
to avoid any adhesion between the formworks and the concrete during the removing
of formworks.

3‐ Reinforcement Steel:

 Steel bars lengths; bends and lap lengths will be fabricated according to the
approved shop drawings and approved bending schedules (BBS).
 Clean the starter bar from cement paste or grout.

 Bottom mesh and additional bottom bars will be fixed using annealed wire ties
according to locations and spaces shown in the approved shop drawings.

 After completing the bottom layer of slab reinforcement allow MEP works to lay the
concealed services.

 Tie the reinforcement bars at both ends to maintain the spacing.

 Install bar chairs acting as spacers between top and bottom reinforcements.

 Top mesh and dowels bars will be fixed using annealed wire ties according to
locations and spaces shown in the approved shop drawings.
 Install additional slab reinforcement if there is any.

 Spacers will be used to maintain and achieve the required concrete covers
(according to location).
 After completing the slab top reinforcements, clean and blow away the dust by using
compressed air.

4‐ Cas ng Reinforced Concrete (400 Kg/cm2)

 Before placing concrete, the form works will be cleaned thoroughly, steel bars will be
checked, free from rust, stains or any other materials that may affect the bond
between the bars and concrete.
 Before casting concrete cleaning will be done using Compressor air.
 Surveyor shall make the lines and levels of the area to be pouring with reference to
approved control points and benchmarks.
 Timber battens shall be installed around the perimeter of the areas to be casting.
The timber battens shall be kept in required profiles and elevations.
 Water spraying of formworks prior to concrete placing.
 Reference levels for top of the concrete shall be provided at the edges of the
reinforced concrete areas. Concrete guide point shall be provided at intermediate
areas as guide for levels for the required elevation. The surveyor shall cross check
the reference while pouring.
 Reinforced concrete shall be grade C40 (400 kg/cm2) as stated in Drawings & Specs.
 All the Shovels and hand tools shall be cleaned with water before and after
concreting.
 Where accessible, concrete shall be poured directly from the Transit mixer to pump.
Pump hose shall be kept as close as possible to the point of delivery to avoid
segregation.
 Concrete shall be laid uniformly to cover the required area, starting along the
transverse direction of the pouring areas, and then moving towards the longitudinal
direction.
 Concrete shall be pumped vertically from the pump hose to prevent segregation.
 Concrete shall be properly distributed and compacting with vibrators uniformly to
obtain homogeneous dense surface. Excess concrete shall spread by tools.
 Concrete fall from high distance will be prevented by using flexible hose connection
inside concrete element.
 Each layer shall be compacted so as to avoid the formation of construction joint with
the previous layer which has not taken initial settlement.
 Casting will be done from lower level to upper level.
 Concrete cover to be maintained as per drawing during casting operation.
 The final working up to the surface shall be done by 2"x4” aluminum sections to
obtain surface free irregularities.
 Surface finishes shall be done as per Spec.
