WEEKLY HOME LEARNING PLAN

Learning Area: Science Grade 8 Week No. 5-6 Date Covered: April 19-23 , 2021
 3 Quarter: Module # 5: Models of Atoms and Elements Determine the number of protons,
rd

neutrons, and electrons in a particular atom

MELCs: Determine the number of protons, neutrons, and electrons in a particular atom (S8MTIIIe-f-10)
Learning Objectives: At the end of the study the students will be able to:
1. identify the different subatomic particles;
2. identify elements using chemical symbols;
3. determine the number of protons, neutrons, and electrons in a particular atom; and
4. describe the features of atomic theory using the characteristics of atomic models.
DAY AND
LEARNING TASK
TIME
Preliminaries/Introduction (What I need to know)
 Wake up, make up your bed, eat breakfast and get ready for an awesome day!
In this module, you will read concepts and will answer activities that may deepen your understanding about
essential information about an atom, its subatomic particles, and the development of atomic theory.

Pre assessment (What I know)

 To check your understanding regarding atoms and anything around it try to answer pages 2-3 of
your 3rd Quarter Module #5. Do accomplish this Pre-Test in another separate sheet of pad paper.
PROCEDURES
1. Review/Motivations (What’s In)
 Accomplish “Whats In” ”WORD SEARCH” : Look for words in the grid related to elements and
atoms. Copy the grid with letters on a separate sheet of paper then loop the words. Page 3.
 Write your answer in another separate pad paper.
2. Initial Activity/Discovery (What’s New)
 Read and analyze page 5 - 7. Perform the activity “Time To Ponder”. Analyze the following
questions and write your answers on a sheet of paper. Do this in another sheet of paper.
3. Discussion of the Topic (What is it)
 Read the Atomic model and Atomic Theory Timeline found on pages 8-10. Try to understand and
be able to become familiarize with it.
4. Enrichment Activities (What’s More)
 Perform and be able to accomplish the different tasks as an Independent Activities and
Assessments 1,2 and 3 of pages 11-16 of your module. Write your observations and answers in a
separate intermediate pad paper.
5. Generalization (What I Have Learned)
After studying the lesson, try to complete the concept map below. Write your answers on a separate
sheet of paper.
6. Application (What I Can Do)
 Answer the following questions found on page 18 of your module to complete the information
needed to make it complete. Write your answer on a sheet of paper.
7. Assessment (Post assessment)
 Let us now evaluate the level of your understanding on the lesson by answering the questions and
activity given on pages 19-20 of your module.
 Read the direction carefully then write your answer on your answer sheet.
8. Additional Activity
 Cut food labels with elements found in it then paste it in the box.
 Identify at least 3 elements found and explain in not more than 3 sentences the importance of these
elements in our body. Use a separate sheet of paper for this activity.

MODE OF DELIVERY

 Parents/Guardian will receive and return the module including the answer sheets on the specific schedule as
instructed. (MDL)
