Semi-detailed Lesson Plan in Discipline & Ideas in the Applied Social Sciences

I. Objectives:
At the end of the lesson, the students are expected to:
1. differentiate the different communication media channels
2. reflect the use of mass media, social media and telecommunications;
and
3. create scenarios showing the media channels being used as a tool for
communication

II. Subject Matter


Topic: Communication media channels (Mass media, New Media, and
Telecommunications)
Reference: Sampa, E. (2017). Discipline and Ideas in the Applied Social
Sciences (pp. 204-207). Rex Bookstore.
Instructional Materials: Laptop, Pictures, cartolina and marker

III. Procedure:
A. Preliminary Activities
1. Prayer
2. Greetings
3. Checking of Attendance
4. Setting of Classroom Standards
5. Review
- The teacher will ask the class who are the clienteles and audiences
in communication.
- The teacher will ask the students to describe the characteristics of
the different types of clienteles and audiences.
B. Motivation
- The teacher will let the students watch a video clip.
- The teacher will raise questions about the video and the students
will be encouraged to respond and share their thoughts.
C. Presentation
- The teacher will present the topic to the class.
D. Activity
- The students will be grouped into two.
- The teacher will provide three sets of pictures of different
communication media channels.
- Each group will be given one set of pictures.
- The students will write their observations of what the pictures
represent.
- The students will be given five minutes to do the task.
- Each group will choose one representative to present their output to
the class.
E. Analysis
- What comes into your minds when you hear the word
communication media channels?
- If something happened in your community, what are the things you
usually do in order for you to know about the incident?
- What did you usually do if you want to communicate with somebody
from long distance?

F. Abstraction
- The teacher will discuss the three communication media channels.
G. Application
- With the same group, the students will create three scenarios
showing the three media channels being used as a tool for
communication. The students will be given 5 minutes to do the task.
Each group will choose one representative to present their output.

H. Valuing
- What is the significance of different communication media
channels?
- What is the importance of communication media channels in the
school setting especially in this time of pandemic?

1. Social Media is more reliable to use than newspaper when it comes to

V. Assignment
- In a ½ sheet of paper, write examples of communication media
channels available in your community.
