XXXVIII

ANALYSIS OF THE
IMPORTANT
HISTORICAL
INFORMATION FOUND
IN THE DOCUMENT
AUTHOR He is the first President of the First Philippine
EMILIO FAMY Republic. He served as Capitan Municipal in Kawit,
Cavite. Joined the katipunan on March 7, 1895.
AGUINALDO

AUDIENCE Aguinaldo expects the readers to learn from his

memoir and to remind every one of us, Filipinos,
FILIPINOS how their hardship, courage, and unity contributed
to our freedom today.

SOURCE The late president advocates the future

generation to unite as one, respect one
another, and defend our own country to the
MEMOIR best of our ability.
TIME, PERIOD, ERA AND PLACE
Aguinaldo wrote the source from 1928 to
1946, and it was published on 1964.
The events from the source happened between September 1896 and May
1897. In conclusion, Aguinaldo wrote it 30 years later.

Aguinaldo began to wrote the source when he was 59 years old and the
book was published months before he died.

He wrote his memoir in Kawit, Cavite, formerly Cavite el Viejo.

Wherein most happen the battle was taken place.
Aguinaldo referred to the battle of Binakayan as his
bloodiest fight because of its scenarios where their
opponents, the Spanish, showed a fearless way to
eliminate them. Many of their opponents died though
many of his soldiers also did. The battle of Binakayan
tested the unity, cooperation, and eagerness of not only
Aguinaldo but all the soldiers who fought there to
redeem their motherland.
The Tejeros Convention was held in order to reconcile
the differences between the two factions and the
election of a revolutionary government. The "Cavitismo"
affected the Tejeros Convention and as a result, Emilio
Aguinaldo, a popular leader in Cavite, won as the
President of the revolutionary government. There is also
a case in which Gen. Tirona belittled Andres Bonifacio.
The faction of Magdiwang and Magdalo happened
because of the territorial competition and lack of respect
for each other.
Aguinaldo wanted to lessen the
punishment to the Bonifacio brothers
because of pity, he desires to preserve the
unity of the Filipinos and because he does
not want to shed the blood of his fellow
revolutionists.

The memoir of the late President Aguinaldo is a

reliable source because it is a primary source
where Aguinaldo is there on the events. But it is
also unreliable because of the long duration
before he wrote it.
Aguinaldo wrote the source to
recognize the Filipinos'

INTENTION
sacrifices to win back the
independence of the
Philippines and free our
country from oppression and
harassment. The document
also serves as a record of the
events that happened during
the revolution.
Aguinaldo’s memoirs are the first-hand narrative of the

INDIVIDUAL REFLECTION/LEARNING EXPERIENCES
As Marcus Garvey said, "A people without the knowledge about their history, origin, and culture is like a tree without roots." The
analysis we did from the source filled me with so much admiration for the past Filipinos who fought for our country. I am now a
tree full of big roots which will help me bloom wonderfully. I am inspired by it and willing to help my fellow Filipino to the best of
my ability and knowledge.

The book Mga Gunita ng Himagsikan made me thrilled and uneasy. It motivates me to keep on working hard on my dreams because
somebody died just to make our country achieve freedom. With all the things considered, success can attain by having perseverance and
persistence which are both characteristics that Filipino revolutionaries have. I thank these people for the hardships they made. And
because of that, we need to sacrifice our lives to protect the independence that our heroes give us.

Based on my learning experiences in the book "Mga gunita ng himagsikan "by Emilio Aguinaldo makes me reflect on how we should work
hard to achieve what we want to achieve. Because all we want, we will achieved it just believed to myself because if somebody can , I can too.
It also makes me realized that somebody can sacrifice what she or he have for our freedom so am i, someday we or I can also sacrifice for my
own good. That's id what I believed.

I consider this book as one of an eye opener. I learn so much things in Aguinaldo's Memoir. The
things I found out in this story change my perspective. Before, Emilio Aguinaldo are always bad for
me. I belived that he is an Antagonist in our Philippine History, but after I read this, now I
understand why those things happen in the past. There is always a political-power-issues in a
government. Those people around you have a big effect in every decision you make like what
happen in Emilio Aguinaldo about his decision for the Bonifacio Brothers.
