Selected Technology Tool: I used Office 365 Power Point to create my story. Students will see
pictures and here my voice as audio reading the story.

URL(s) to support the lesson (if applicable): N/A

Bloom’s Taxonomy Level(s):

☐ Remembering X Understanding ☐ Applying Analyzing ☐ Evaluating ☐ Creating

Levels of Technology Integration:

X Infusion Level: Students may work at a higher Bloom’s Level, but they do not have any “Voice or
Choice” during the activity and most of the decisions are made by the teacher.

☐ Integration Level: We would like to see ALL lessons/activities reach this level. The project is
student-driven and student-led. Students should have “Voice and Choice” in the activities,
selecting the topic of study and determining the technology tool to demonstrate mastery of the
standard. The teacher becomes more of a facilitator.

☐ Expansion Level: The projects created are shared outside of the classroom, publishing student
work and promoting authorship. This could be reached by showcasing the project on the school’s
morning newscast, posting the project to the classroom blog, or publishing via an outside source.
Your student’s projects must be shared locally or globally to meet this level.

Universal Design for Learning (UDL): This activity creates a visual that all students can view. This
activity is visually appealing and is very original. All students love being read to, therefore having a
story time with a educational purpose ensures that students are engaged and learning. This activity
shows the relationship between community helpers and how their jobs affect people in the
community. This activity is also a good intro to community helpers.

Lesson idea implementation:
• Students will be shown the digital story about community helpers

• After the story, we will discuss as a class the different community helpers mentioned
throughout the story. During this discussion, we will go over the roles of each community
helper, and why they are important.

• After the discussion has ended, students will complete an online journal entry via Microsoft
Word. The entry is around 3 sentences.

• The journal entry will then be printed and turned in for a grade.

Reflective Practice: After designing this lesson idea I feel like students could really learn a lot about
community helpers. I think that the learning extension journal entry will help assess what students
learned and what ideas may need more reinforcing.
