For this experiment I will be making slime
Question: with three different and popular slime
recipes. Each recipe uses a different type of
slime activator. Activator is an ingredient in
slime that is needed for a chemical reaction
Which slime to take place to solidify and form the slime.
activator makes It is well known that these recipes work in
some capacity, my question will be which
slime that last the activator will best keep the slime
longest? consistency, stretch, and continue to be
playable after being left in the container for
four days.
Hypothesis:
I think that the recipe with
contact solution activator
will last all 4 days.
Materials

o3 bottles of clear Elmer's school glue.

o3 Tablespoons of baking powder
o1 bottle of contact lens cleaner (saline solution)
o1 Tablespoon dish soap
o¼ cup of liquid laundry detergent (Tide works best)
o3 containers or bowls with lids for mixing and slime storage
o3 spoons or popsicle sticks for stirrers
oFood coloring (optional)
Procedures: Slime 1

1. Pour glue into container

2. Add 1 TSP baking powder
3. Add 5-10 drops of contact solution
4. Mix with popsicle stick until mixture
starts to solidify and all remnants of
mixture are cleared from the sides of
the container.
5. Continue to mix and kneed in hands
until desired consistency is reached.
6. Additional drops of activator may be
needed if slime is too sticky.
Procedures: Slime 2

1. Pour glue into container

2. Add 1 TSP baking powder
3. Add 1 TSP dish soap
4. Mix with popsicle stick until mixture
starts to solidify and all remnants of
mixture are cleared from the sides of
the container.
5. Continue to mix and kneed in hands
until desired consistency is reached.
6. I did add food coloring to this mix to
make it more orange.
Procedures: Slime 3

1. Pour glue into container

2. Add 1 TSP baking powder
3. Add ¼ cup of liquid laundry detergent
4. Mix with popsicle stick until mixture
starts to solidify and all remnants of
mixture are cleared from the sides of
the container.
5. Continue to mix and kneed in hands
until desired consistency is reached.

Conclusion

My Hypothesis was correct. The slime made with saline solution did keep
its elasticity the longest and was the most pleasant to play with after the
four days. The slime that was made with the dish soap was soft, very
stretchy, and malleable. After 4 days it did stay soft but there was no
elasticity, when I attempted to stretch it in the same way as slime 1 it
immediately broke off. The slime that was made with laundry detergent
never solidified in the same way as slime 1 or 2. Slime 3 coagulated in bits
and pieces and never formed a solid mass of slime. After 4 days Slime 3
went back to an almost completely liquefied state.
