Grade: 11 Semester: First Semester

Core Subject Title: Physical Science No. of Hours/Semester: 80 hours

Prerequisites (If needed): None
Core Subject Description: Evolution of our understanding of matter, motion, electricity, magnetism, light, and the universe from ancient times to the present;
applications of physics and chemistry concepts in contexts such as atmospheric phenomena, cosmology, astronomy, vision, medical instrumentation, space technology,
drugs, sources of energy, pollution and recycling, fitness and health, and cosmetics.

Culminating Performance Standard: : Create a brochure or PowerPoint presentation that will showcase the applications of the different ideologies and principles of Physics
and Chemistry in our everyday lives and how it will demonstrate its concepts in the different areas of society.

PERFORMANCE TASK IN GRASPS

Goal
Integrate the application of Newton’s Laws of Motion through a Mini-Olympics and clippings that will convey the concept and use of
Newton’s Law in real life.

Role
You will be one of the committee in a Science Club Office who is tasked to choose a participant who will represent the school of
Elizalde Academy Inc. in Science Fair.

Audience
Grade 7-12 students of Elizalde Academy Inc.

Situation
The Elizalde Academy Inc annually celebrates the Yes-O Week. This year’s the theme is focused on appreciating and acknowledging the
talents, innovatives and creative mind of our students in Science that brought a significant impact on the application of Science in their
day to day lives.

Product The Mini-Olympics Game includes the performance of the following:

Game 1- Back Flip: Catch increasingly larger sets of pencils, flipped off the back of your hand.
Game 2- Defying Gravity: Tap 3 balloons to keep them off the ground for one minute.
Game 3- Mouth to Mouth: Player must pull a peso bill from between two bottles balanced mouth-to-mouth on top of each
other, while leaving the bottles balanced atop of each other.
Game 4- Spoon Frog: Bang down on a spoon to propel another spoon into a glass.
Clippings should show the application of the laws of motion through pictures, news clips and advertisements.

Standards
Your product must manifest the following characteristics (varies according to class decisions for rating)
1. organization/mechanics
2. accuracy of content
3. creativity
4. Presentation

PERFORMANCE STANDARD

The learner is able to investigate, analyse, and solve problems involving the application of Newton’s Laws of Motion through appropriate and accurate
presentation.
