POWER MEASUREMENT OF AN UNBALANCED LOAD USING TWO WATTMETER
METHOD

OBJECTIVES
1. Measure power of an unbalanced three phase load.

LEARNING OUTCOMES
1. Verify the least number of wattmeters needed to measure power of a unbalanced
three phase load.

PROCEDURE
1. Build the circuit shown in Figure 7.1 using NI MULTISIM.
2. Using a wattmeter measure the power per phase of the load. Record the measurement in
Table 7.1.
3. Using two wattmeter method, insert two wattmeters in the circuit with the configuration
shown in Table 7.2. Record the result in the same table.
4. Verify that the sum of the two wattmeters is equal to the sum of the wattmeter
reading in procedure 2.
