SaiRat Drabble

Virat just got off the phone with DIG sir who informed him that his wife gave her complete official
statement regarding the whole situation of Gadchiroli, and that she told them that he did not
marry her forcefully and was in fact the one to save her from Jagtaap and Vitthal Mane. Just
then he heard someone enter the room and turned around to see Sai. She stopped looking at
him, and could tell from the happy look on his face that he got to know what had happened.
Virat: Sai.. Aaj tumne.. I mean abhi jo tumne mere liye kiya… thank you.
Sai: Aapko thanks kehne ki jarurat nahi hai Virat sir… maine jo bhi kiya wo mera farz tha. Aur
maine sirf wahi kaha jo sach hai.
Virat: Sai… main… maine… kal maine jo kuch bhi kaha, kiya.. Uske liye…
Sai: It's ok Virat sir… (Sat on the bed, and Virat looks at her. He sensed that there was
something that was not right with her. Because she was neither talking angrily nor with any
sarcasm) Ek na ek din toh ye hona hi tha.
Virat: (Confused) Kya matlab?
Sai: (smiled sadly) Main janti hu aapne ye shadi majboori me ki hai… maine pehle hi kaha tha
aapko mat kijiye ye shadi, mana kar dijiye.. Lekin aapne meri baat nahi mani… Agar maan li
hoti toh aaj hum is situation me nahi hote, aur na hi aapki job par yeh musibat aati
Virat: Sai maine..
Sai: Janti hu… janti hu aap yahi kahenge ki aapne jo kiya wo apna farz nibhane ke liye kiya…
par sach yahi hai Virat sir ki sare gaaonwalon ne aapko majboor kiya tha is shadi ke liye.. Aur
aapne ye shadi apni marzi se nahi, majboor hokar jaldbaazi me ki hai…aur main ye bhi janti thi
ki kabhi na kabhi aapko is baat ka jarur afsos hoga, bas ye nahi janti thi ki wo din itni jaldi
aayega
Virat: (Felt really guilty now… specially because today he was watching a completely different
side of her.. A Sai who was not angry, but a one who disheartened, disappointed and sad) Sai
mera kehne ka wo matlab nahi..
Sai: Please Viraat sir… aapko koi safai dene ki jarurat nahi hai… galati meri hi thi, main hi apni
hadd bhool gayi thi… (chuckled sadly) wo kya hai na, is ghar me Aayi ka pyaar aur kuch waqt
ke liye aapka support milne se, main bhool hi gayi thi ki yeh sab mera nahi hai, aur sirf
temporary hai…
Virat: Sai tum yeh..
Sai: (Smiled at him) Par aap chinta mat karo.. Bas kuch din aur, ek baar mera admission
medical college me ho jayega aur mujhe hostel mil jayega, toh main is ghar se chali jaungi… fir
aapko mujhe aur mere gusse ko jhelne ki jarurat nahi padegi… aur na hi apne faisle par afsos
karne ki
Virat: Sai tum kahi nahi..
Sai: Don't worry Viraat sir… agar aapko is baat ka darr hai ki main pichhli baar ki tarah khud ko
kuch kar lungi aur aapka Aaba ko diya hua promise tut jayega.. Toh aisa kuch nahi hoga.. Main
apne aap ka pura khayal rakhungi, kyunki mujhe mere Aaba ka sapna pura karna hai, aur woh
main jarur karungi (she got up from the bed) Ab aap aaram kijiye, mujhe Aayi ne kitchen me
bulaya tha, toh main jati hu (she started to go out of the room)
Virat: Sai meri baat toh (She stops ant the door and turns to look at him).
Sai: Ek aur baat Virat sir.. (Virat just looked at her waiting for her to continue). Mujhe khushi hai
aapko is baat ka ehsaas ho gaya, ki jaldbaazi me liye huye faisle insaan ko zindagi bhar ka
jakham de dete hai… Ummeed karti hu, ki aapne aise jaldbaazi wale faisle aur koi na liye ho,
aur na aage lenge.
Saying that she just turned around and left the room leaving Virat standing there stunned. He
was feeling extremely guilty of his instantaneous outburst yesterday. And his guilt increased
tenfold after watching the sadness on her face today. He had seen her that sad after she had
first realized that she was alone in the world without her father. And today he made her feel that
alone again. Her words hit him hard when she said "kuch waqt ke liye aapka support". Here he
was supposed to be supportive to her in this tough phase of life, and he just took out his
frustration on her!! Even when there was no fault of her in it!!! He made her feel lonely!! How
could he do this? How could he have been so stupid, so immature? How hurt she must have
felt! And still this girl had shown such maturity today.
He was really stunned at the last thing she said to him. His wife had given him a lot to ponder
over today.
