1. ISOLATED SPREAD FOOTING :- This is the most widely used for shallow foundation in
order to carry & spread concentrated load.
i.Single pad/simple footing :- In the above picture the size of footing is (2000 mm × 2000
mm) &depth of foundation is 1800 mm.
ii.Sloped footing :- In the above picture the size of footing is (2000 mm × 2000 mm) & depth of
foundation is 1800 mm.
iii.Stepped footing :- In the above picture the size of 1st step is (2000 mm × 2000 mm) & 2nd
step (1500mm×1500mm) and depth of foundation is 1800mm.
2. COMBINED FOOTING :- Comined footings are constructed for two or more coumn when
they are close to each other & their foundation overlap.
In the above picture the size of footing is (6000 mm × 2000 mm) &depth of foundation is 1850
mm.

3. STRAP FOOTING:- It is a one kind of combined footing condists of two or more column
footing connected by concrete tsrap beam. In the above picture the strap beam length is
1800mm, thickness of footing is 300mm &width 700mm. two column footings size are
(1500mm×1500mm).
4. STRIP FOOTING:- Strip footing are commony used as foundation of load bearing walls.
Usally boasting a foundation level that is no greater than 3 m from the ground surface.
In the above picture the size of RCC strip footing is 6000mm long , 850mm width & thickness of
strip 400 mm & total depth of foundation from ground surface is 1000mm.
5. RAFT FOUNDATION :- It is essentially a continuous slab resting on the soil that extends
over the entire footprint of the building.
In the above picture 6 no. of coumns are resting on a single slab , size of slab is (12000mm
×10000mm) and thickness os slab is 350mm. Total depth of foundation from ground surface is
3000mm.
DEEP FOUNDATION : If the depth of footing very large in comparison to it’s width ,is known
as deep foundation .Load is transmitted at considerable depth below ground level. Ex: pile, well
foundation or caisson ,cofferdams etc.
