Questions:

1. Differentiate Geocentrism and Heliocentrism.

 Geocentrism it is the prefix geo means of the earth and they believed that the earth was
in the center of all while Heliocentrism it is the prefix helio which means the sun and they
believed that the sun is the center of all.

2. How did Galileo, Kepler and Newton supported the concept of Heliocentrism?
 Galileo supported the concept of heliocentric by his telescope he observed that Jupiter
has four moons and this is the one proof that the sun is the center. He also observed
that Venus had faces this also possible when Venus orbit the sun so he believed and
backup Copernicus.
 Kepler support also in model of Heliocentric through publishing a series of laws which
describes the orbit of the planet around the sun he explained it through the
mathematical equations.
 Newton discovered the idea of a gravity without gravity the universe as we know it could
not exist. Isaac idea proved that gravity is the reason why the planet orbit around the sun
this is the end point that Copernicus was right.
3. Explain Darwin's Theory of Evolution.
 The Charles Darwin’s theory of Evolution started because of Charles Darwin he is an
English naturalist, biologist, and geologist. He wrote a book that entitled On the Origin
of Species, which was published in the year 1859 and in this booked he introduced the
Darwinian theory of evolution where in it states that population through a process of
natural selection in which only the fittest would survive.

4. What is your point of view about Darwin's Theory of Evolution?

 My point of view was I believed in Charles Darwin theory because he has a backup
evidence but were not the same in believing about god because he is neutral mean that
he is in the middle and he says that he will believe when there is some evidence that he
can see. For me I am religious person but my teachers say we need to keep open minded
dealing with scientific concept because its maybe hard to accept hard to believed but we
need to be open mind to understand what they want to tell and say to us

5. What did Darwin discover in the Galapagos Islands?

 Darwin discovered in Galapagos island that there are many islands and they are far apart
and in this Islands. he also discovered different birds but they have the same finches but
he observed most they have different faces but there still similarities it has only different
in color, big, feather, and claws. Since Galapagos island are far away each other Charles
Darwin include that the birds are cannot fly to another island because of the long
distance of the open sea so he included that maybe this bird has evolved and adopted
through the natural selection.

6. Explain the 3 conflicting elements of personality according to Freud.

 Freud compare the three conflicting elements as an iceberg. According to him the Id is
the primitive and Instinctual part of the mind that contains sexual aggressive drives and
hidden memories, the super-ego operates as a moral conscience, and the ego is the
realistic part that mediates between the desires of the id and the super-ego

7. Discuss the five stages of psychosexual development according to Freud.

 Sigmund Freud has the concept of psychosexual development which is divided into five
stages and they are all have erogenous stage. This are the;
 Oral stage it is between the age of birth-1 and the erogenous is the mouth.
 Anal stage it is between the age of 1-3 y/o the erogenous are bowel and bladder.
 Phallic stage it is between 3-6 y/o and the erogenous is Genital.
 Latency it’s about 6-pubirty it's Inactive the sexual feelings.
 Genital stage from puberty - death the sexual interest is maturing.
8. Why are the three (3) intellectual revolutions considered controversial?
 The three revolutions are controversial it’s because people won’t accept easily on what
you want to tell us people will become hesitant to accept your ideas, they will think
negatively but the two revolution stand their discovery with an evidence.

9. Which part of the video discussion on intellectual revolutions did you like/ remember
the most?
 The most I liked is the Copernicus Revolution because I try to keep an open mind in this
lesson so that I better understand all that is stated in this theory and now I just found
that in 140CE - 1600CE they believed that the earth is the center of everything this is my
first time to know this kind of theory and I like it most because Nicolaus Copernicus
discovered and suggested that the center of the Solar System is the sun and not the
earth. If there is no Copernicus and there are no Galileo, Kepler And Newton if they don’t
have an evidence maybe we still live that we know the earth is the center of the universe.

10. Cite some concepts/questions that you want to clarify regarding the 3 intellectual
revolutions that we have discussed.

 What is an intellectual revolution all about?

It is the period where paradigm shifts occurred. It is where the scientific beliefs that have
been widely embraced and accepted by the people where challenged and opposed.
 How does Darwin Theory of revolution effect on society?
Darwinism allowed us to gain a better understanding of our world, which in turn allowed
us to change the way that we think.
