Proceedings:

The session started at around 12:00 o’clock in the afternoon with all the ABM faculty members present.
Mrs. Leilanie D. Anonuevo, the newly appointed Subject Group Head, started the ball rolling by laying down the
items for discussion.

1. Sharing of Best Teaching and Classroom Management Practices

Mrs. Anonuevo emphasized the importance of utilizing the best teaching strategies in motivating the
students to achieve high level of learning inside the classroom. She affirmed that teachers play a crucial role in
the learning and development of the students. Likewise, she added that practicing the best classroom management
strategies is just as important as the aforementioned factor.
Hence, in order to achieve the common goal of teaching at its finest, the ABM teachers were encouraged
to share their best practices. The teachers’ responses were as follows:

✓ Students are given wide range of topics to choose from during post-discussion activities. This way,
students achieve more sense of independence in making choices.

✓ Although modern technology is deemed as an ideal tool in instructional delivery, it is better for teachers
to regularly switch using between or among a variety of tools such as the use of traditional materials (e.g.
Manila paper, cartolina, strips of paper, etc.) This will prevent the occurrence of overfamiliarity among
the learners and will always lead them watching for the next session.

✓ It is always helpful and effective to provide instant positive feedback to students on their correct responses
during discussion proper. Saying positive words such as “Very good!”, “You got it right!” or even simple
“Good choice!” creates a positive learning atmosphere that will encourage more interaction among the
class.

✓ During group activities, all members are given equal share to work on. This will discourage monopoly of
responsibilities (usually by the group leader) and will therefore encourage great teamwork.

✓ Positive reinforcement is the key to a successful lesson.

2. Search for Best Classroom

Since the announcement of the Search for the Best in Classroom, all the Senior High School faculty
members, particularly the classroom advisers have been working hard in motivating their students to improve the
quality of their classrooms. The aim of the contest is not only to help augment the classroom’s appearance, but
also to encourage teamwork and unity between and among students, teachers and others.

The teachers shared their strategies in preparing for the said contest. Some significant responses are as
follows:

✓ Cleanliness is the first thing to address. Advisers need to constantly check and monitor the cleanliness of
the classroom ( windows, floor, celing, etc.).

✓ Proper waste management should be strictly implemented. There should be separate trash bins with clear
labels.

✓ Bulletin boards should contain all the necessary items such as class masterlist, list of cleaners, list of
officers, class schedule, etc.

✓ First aid kit should be made available.

3. Other Matters
Mrs. Anonuevo made some quick reminders on the following.

✓ Teachers should observe punctuality when attending their class.

✓ Class advisers should strictly monitor the attendance and behavior of their respective class. Any issues or
concerns should be properly addressed and given prompt and proper intervention.

The session finished at 12:50 pm.
