GED-103_FOPM02_1Q2122 Mr. John Mark Villanueva

1. The author of the 1st article is Teodoro Agoncillo, and the 2nd article is Santiago Alvarez. Teodoro
Agoncillo is a well-known Filipino historian from the 20th century. He is one of the Filipino historians who
has pushed for a distinct nationalist perspective on the country's history. His works are recognized as
required reading for anybody interested in Philippine history. He was also an essayist and poet back in
the day. Santiago Alvarez is the commander in chief of the Magdiwang faction. He is recognized as the
"Kidlat ng Apoy" because of his bravery and devotion as a commander in Cavite; he was acknowledged as
the "Hero of the Battle of Dalahican."

2. These are the historical events that both documents mention. The Assembly opened with Bonifacio as
Chairman, and the Fall of Towns in Cavite. The Tejeros Convention between the two factions, the
provincial council elections, the fraud ballots released after the election, and the story of how the
Spaniards took over the towns in Cavite.

These are the people involved in these events namely, Mariano Alvarez, Pascual Alvarez, Emiliano Riego
de Dios, Mariano Trias, Ariston Villanueva, Santiago Alvarez, Diego Moxica, Artemio Ricarte and Mariano
Riego De Dios from the faction “Magdiwang”. Baldomero Aguinaldo, Candido Tirona, Cayetano Topacio,
Emilio Aguinaldo, Edilberto Evangelista, Vito Belarmino and Crispulo Aguinaldo from the faction
“Magdalo”

3. Teodoro Agoncillo is just providing readers with a different point of view on Philippine history. In terms
of the history behind the election of the councils and the descriptions of the two factions, the stories
behind the article are clearly delivered and clear. He also includes the message of Daniel Tirona to Mariano
Alvarez in his letter. Santiago Alvarez's article is based on his personal experiences as the Magdiwang
faction's commander-in-chief. The scenes behind “Article 1” were revealed in Santiago Alvarez's article,
including the fraud involving already-filled vote ballots, the rivalry between Daniel Tirona and Andres
Bonifacio, and the history of how the Spaniards took over the town of Cavite.

4. The primary source is the most important because it provides you with sources that are straight to the
point and detailed on each issue discussed in the article. This contains a brief description of each content
item as well as the overall theme of the article. On the following topic, the secondary source provides you
with secondhand knowledge or more background. This might contain a more in-depth understanding of
the issue or additional facts not covered in the initial article or context. This also provides extra
information on the issue that the author is discussing.

5. The first article, in my opinion, is the primary source. Teodora Agoncillo properly documented every
historical event that occurred in the past, including a summary of the factions, Magdiwang and Magdayo,
the Tejeros Meeting, and the Council Election. The second source explores more into the history of the
topics not covered in "Article 1." Santiago Alvarez, the commander-in-chief, wrote the statement. In his
article, he discussed the vote ballots that had already been filled out. He also addressed Daniel Tirona and
Andres Bonifacio's broader rivalry. If you connect both documents into one, the 1st article would be its
introduction and body, while the 2nd article will rely on the body and conclusion of the whole Historical
Events.
