GRS Conduit Fill Percentage - Conduit fill shall not exceed the maximum fill specified
in attachment 3, NEC Chapter 9, Table 1 & 4 and Notes to Tables.
Commentary Note:
A2 Because conductor sizes and insulation thickness of IEC and SASO type wires and JERES-P-104
cables vary from those of NEC type wires and cables, actual dimensions (outside
diameters) must be used to calculate conduit fill and maximum number of wires
allowed in conduit, instead of NEC tables.

similar) shall not exceed 25% based on the conduit size (i.e., the ratio of the sum of
the cross-sectional areas of wires and multiconductor cables to the internal cross-
sectional area of a conduit of the same trade size shall not exceed 25%). Larger size
sealing fittings with reducers, or conduit outlet boxes (e.g., Crouse-Hinds GUA
A4 JERES-P-104
series) with appropriate sealing covers may be used in order to utilize the higher
permissible wire fill of the conduit.

Where approved, conduit shall not be required to be securely fastened within 900
mm (3 ft) of the service head for above-the-roof termination of a mast. (NFPA 70,
NEC )
GRS Conduit Supports - GRS conduit shall be supported in accordance with one of
the following.
(1) Conduit shall be supported at intervals not exceeding 3 m (10 ft).
(2) The distance between supports for straight runs of conduit shall be permitted in
accordance with attachment 2, Table 346.30(B)(2), provided the conduit is made up
with threaded couplings, and such supports prevent transmission of stresses to
termination where conduit is deflected between supports.
A10 (3) Exposed vertical risers from industrial machinery or fixed equipment shall be JERES-P-104
permitted to be supported at intervals not exceeding 6 m (20 ft), if the conduit is
made up with threaded couplings, the conduit is firmly supported at the top and
bottom of the riser, and no other means of intermediate support is readily available.
(4) Horizontal runs of GRS conduit supported by openings through framing members
at intervals not exceeding 3 m (10 ft) and securely fastened within 900 mm (3 ft) of
termination points shall be permitted.
( NFPA 70, NEC Art. 344.30 (B))
