I. Objectives Week 1

A. Content Standard
Use sentence and word context to find the meaning of unknown words.

B. Performance Standards
The learners will be able to use sentence context to correctly identify its meaning.

C. MELCs
Determine the meaning of words and expressions that reflect the local culture by noting context clues

III. Procedure

A. Preliminary Activities:

Modular: The learners will be given a five nonsense words written on the module.
Online: Ask the learners with a group of cards with the following pictures: keyboard, a mouse and
printer.

B. Motivation
Show learners a group of prepared group of familiar pictures of keyboard, a mouse , a printer and ask
the learners “what object do these picture help make? ( a computer)
Show learners four words that together form an object (tail, furry, paws, barks,) and ask the learners
what they think the object is (dog).

C. Discussion
. 1. Discuss the meaning of context clues
2. Ask the students what the object was and which clues they uses to help them figure out what the
object was.
IV. Generalization
The learners will understand the meaning of context clues and how to use it properly.
The learners will identify what are context clues that help them figure out the object.

V. Evaluation
Write your own made up word along with clues and sentences to accompany that word.
