Figure E.14. Source of Water Supply. Barangay Bula, General Santos City
Figure E.12 shows the graphical representation of the source of water supply in Barangay
Bula. Majority of the community avails water from the Public (60%) or 30 residents out of 50
total sample population as their source of water supply rather than Private (20%) or 10 residents,
and deep well (20%) or 10 residents.
Contaminants of water supply in public can lead to health issues, including
gastrointestinal illness, reproductive problems, and neurological disorders. Infants, young
children, pregnant women, the elderly, and people with weakened immune systems may be at
increased risk for becoming sick after drinking contaminated water (“Drinking Water FAQs”).
The results therefor imply that their source of water they get from the public which is not
safe because it could have been contaminated with such chemicals has the potential to lead to
both acute and long-term health effects.

Figure E.15.Percentage population with access to safe, adequate water supply.

Barangay Bula, General Santos City
Figure 2.3.3.2 shows the percentage of population with access to safe, adequate water
supply in Barangay Bula. Most of the people use water container with cover (78%) or 38
residents out of 50 total sample population while (22%) or 12 residents do not have cover for the
water containers being used in storing for their drinking water.
Safe water storage means that once the water has been treated and is safe to use, it is
stored in a container that protects the water from re-contamination. Safe storage containers are
also effective at preventing contamination of water before treatment during transport and storage,
but will not eliminate contaminants that were present before the water was put in the container.
(“Centers for disease control and prevention 2012”).
The results therefore imply that the population in Barangay Bula are well aware of the
safety access of water supply.
