Methods of Surveying

Control Survey
It is provide the standard of accuracy for subsequent and subordinate
surveys to attain. Typically, Control Surveys are used to establish durable,
sustainable reference points to be used as the basis for and throughout a
project's life cycle and beyond.

Boundary Survey
In this type of survey, the surveyor will set (or recover) the property
corners and produce a detailed plat or map. used to identify a property's
boundary lines.

Topographic Survey
It locates all surface features of a property, and depicts all natural
features and elevations. In essence it is a 3-dimensional map of a 3-
dimensional property showing all natural and man-made features and
improvements.
Hydrographic Survey
The main measurement performed in hydrographic surveying is water
depth.

Mining Survey
Unsourced material may be challenged and removed. Mine surveying
is the practice of determining the relative positions of points on or beneath the
surface of the earth by direct or indirect measurements of distance, direction
& elevation.
Astronomical Survey
Sky surveys, unlike targeted observation of a specific object, allow
astronomers to catalog celestial objects and perform statistical analyses on
them without making prohibitively lengthy observations.

Route Survey
Is defined as being the required service and product that adequately
locates the planned path of a linear project or right of way which crosses a
prescribed area of real estate, extending from at least one known point and
turning or terminating at another known point.

Photogrammetric Survey
The most common use for photogrammetry is creating maps out of
aerial photos.
Construction Survey
Construction surveying can take many forms. It is used to establish the
location and alignment of highways, bridges, buildings, pipes, and other man-
made objects.

City Surveys
The process of surveying is used to fulfill various purposes. It is
necessary for making map, planning a project

Forestry Surveys
Foresters survey the boundaries of a timber tract to establish exact
property lines, to locate timber-cutting areas, and to determine the area of a
tract.
Industrial Surveys
This may include the alignment of precision machinery in anything from
the nuclear to production industries.

Cadastral Surveys
Generally performed to subdivide land into parcels for ownership under
a land title and to re-establish boundaries of previously surveyed properties to
determine the physical extent of ownership or to facilitate the transfer of the
property title.
