General Instructions:

1. Read and understand each items carefully.

2. Late submission will not be considered. Please submit on time.
3. Strictly NO CHEATING. If caught cheating the remedial class score will be automatically zero.

Test I. Identify the neutral atom described by name and mass number. 2 points each.

1. The atom with 2 neutrons and 1 proton is? a.)_Hydrogen_________ b.)_3_________

2. The atom with 17 electrons and 18 neutrons is? a.) Chlorine b.) 35
3. The atom with 6 protons and 8 neutrons is? Carbon-4
4. An atom contains 55 protons. What is the element symbol? Cs – (Cesium)
5. An atom contains 31 protons, 39 neutrons and 31 electrons. Identify the mass number of this atom. Gallium – 69.723 u

Test 2. Answer the given question. Rubrics: 5 points- organization of ideas and 5 points- content.

1. How does Atomic theory explain the reactions in nature?

This explains that during chemical reaction there is an ongoing rearrangements of atoms while the atoms remain the same.

2. Hydrogen and Oxygen can form water (H 2O). Both of these elements can form one compound. Beside water, both of these
elements can form Hydrogen Peroxide (H 2O2). Based on Dalton’s Law, explain how water and hydrogen peroxide can be
found.
This is because these are based on the law of multiple proportions where in when the two or more elements combined the
ratio depending in the weigh.

3. What ions or molecules do you consider essential to everyday life?

One of that I can consider is Calcium because calcium is the building block of our bones that structures our body.

4. Which among Dalton's postulates may no longer hold true today? Why do you say so?
One is the individuality of an atom because today it was proved wrong because atoms can still be divided into protons.

5. In your own words, explain how Dalton supported his atomic theory using the fundamental laws of matter?

By describing matter in teems of atoms using the law of conservation of mass and law of constant composition.

6. What makes matter solid, liquid, or gas?

They differ in phases of the molecules, atoms or ions that they contain.

7. How does the discovery of atomic structure impact life?

It made us more advance in a way that some atomic elements is now being used for our convenience and our daily living.

8. The water cycle occurs on the surface of Earth. Explain how water molecules change in each step of the water cycle.
God Bless :)
