Lord God bless us today, thank you for the gift of life. Forgive us for all our sins. May you help us to
understand our lesson and answer all activities with full of competence and honesty. Amen

II. MOTIVATION

It’s a wonderful day that we are facing ahead of us. Good day learner! Welcome to another day of learning.
Please arrange the scrambled letters to reveal the hidden word, and answer the following. Read each statement
if the sentence indicates Persuasive Writing then write TRUE and if it is not, write FALSE. Let’s check it out if

III. CONCEPT NOTES

Persuasive Essay

 Persuasive Essay is a form of writing that aims to influence and convince readers or listener to agree
with what the author believes in by presenting opinions and ideas that primarily appeal to the
emotions rather that to the intellect.

 Main Purpose of Persuasive Essay is to evoke emotions; the writer therefore must first consider the
kind of audience he or she is addressing for this enables the use of appropriate language. The use of
appropriate words or language greatly contributes to the writer’s persuasive writing power.
 A persuasive text is a type of non-fiction writing which can be used to express one’s stand on an issue
to influence and convince readers to agree with the writer’s idea or to perform and action. This is
achieved by knowing first the basic parts which are the Introduction, Body and Conclusion.

Basic Parts of a Persuasive Essay

Introduction
 a motivating question, a starting statement, an interesting anecdote or a powerful quote may be used to
hook the listener’s or readers attention.
 relevant details showing the background of the issue should be indicated
 a clearly conveyed thesis statement about the issue is presented.

Body
 Starts with a topic sentence that explains and gives reason or evidences.
 Supports your argument by giving additional reason or evidences.

Conclusions

 Summarize the main points of your argument.


 Writes impact words that call for action.

The thesis statement is the banner that carries the main


point of your argument, the idea that you want your readers
to believe. Hence it must be strong and clearly written in
Thesis –a complete sentence that gives
the introduction your opinion regarding the issue and what
you think should be done.
Here are some exaples f thesis statement:
1. The used of cellular phones should be banned in
classroom as they cause distractions on the students.
2. College education should be pursued for it can guarantee a promising and bright future.

Tips for Writing a Persuasive essay

 State your position- your readers should fully understand the point that you are impressing on them.

 Get organized- create an outline starting with your thesis statement, then your major points together
with the evidences.

 Persuade with passion- choose the topic that you are passionate about and give your best.

 Know your audience- knowing whom you are convincing will enable you to carefully select the words
and methods of persuasion. Right words lead to right results.

 Write with integrity- observe accuracy and objectivity in writing, avoid fallacies, bias and
misinformation just to make your audience agree with you.

Are you an animal lover? One who consider these creatures as God's children too?
Roam around your community and you will find on the streets innumerable hungry,
sick stray dogs and cats waiting to be saved. Adopting these strays is the best
solution there is.

Opening your home to neglecting animals give more benefits than detriments. Aside
from having a loyal house-guard, a dog and a cat csn be your lifetime friend who will
love you unconditionally. The joy these animals bring wards off depression and the
feeling of loneliness.

Believe me, your life will be more meaningful if you open your heart to take in the
homeless dog's and cats. I know because I've done it too and it's very rewarding
experience!
