SOME STRESSFUL CHALLENGES STUDENTS USUALLY CONFRONT WHEN


WORKING IN A GROUP IN UNIVERSITY

Good morning and thank for your coming. My name is Pham Thuy Duyen and I’m from
HUFLIT. Before starting my speech, let’s take a look at this picture. As you can see in the
picure, people are working as a group together in order to make their team work most effective.
Especially, nowaday, the largest group of people who are regularly working teamwork are
students when studying in university. But sometimes working in group is in the face of many
difficult issues that everyone encounters. And this leads to negative consequences, affecting the
team's work progress. Well, that’s why I’m so delighted to be here today to tell you about some
stressful challenges students usually confront when working in a group in university. Firstly, I’ll
start by talking about the difficulty in communication, then I’ll move on to the ineffectiveness in
cooperation.

Let’s get started. I’ll discuss the 1st idea which is the difficulty in communication. Teamwork
have a lot of advantages, but we also need to recognize their challenges. In order to achieve good
results in all matters assigned, the member need to have effective communication but many team
don’t have it. Firstly, the team dissent when discussing. Example your team have 4 ppl so that
when discussing, everyone have give a lot of different idea, but all group can’t conclude to give
the final opinion. Everyone think that their opinion is the best and they don’t acknowledge the
others. That would lead to tension among the member. Secondly, shyness when talking
assignment. Often, teamworks are detered due to one member’s attitude. Example, one member
may want to take over discussions and prevent other members from speaking their mind. In other
words, they’re not respect the other members.

I have mentioned the 1st part, which is difficulty in communication. Let me move on the 2nd
idea, which is ineffectiveness in cooperation. The main cause of this is poor responsibility by
some menmbers. For example, if team members are unwilling to brainstorm or cooperate share
ideas and support one another on project targets, this can result in failing, time wasted, even
work must be repeated. Besides, low engagement is also cause ineffectiveness cooperation.
Team engagement is inportant to sucess. Problem here is that the members don’t interact with
each others . Ppl work independently without sharing or helping from other members. There are
even ppl who get off topic or make wrong request but no one cares. That’s all about the 2nd part
I want to talk to you.

To sum up, I’ve mentioned 2 stressful challenges that students usually confront when working a
group in university. Both working alone or in teams have their own advantages and challenges
and we won't be able to avoid them in our lives. So after this topic, I hope that these problems
will help you rethink and gradually improve the resposibilities of each other. I also believe that
everyone will strongly exploit teamwork skills and gain a lot of success in your life. This is the
