45110-2Propeller shaft front, remove-install

Function Group 4, "General Safety Practices, Transmission" before performing this
procedure.

1 Apply the handbrake.


2 Position the wheel chocks.
3 Set the key in position 0.

Remove the guard.
DANGER

Risk of severe personal injury or death.


A raised vehicle which has not been properly secured can cause serious damage.
▶ Only use jack stands with adequate rating.
▶ Verify that jacks and jack stands are fault-free.
▶ DO NOT work under or around a vehicle until it is supported on jack stands.

Place the jack stand under the propeller shaft.
6 Remove the screws.
7 Disconnect the propeller shaft.
8 Lower the propeller shaft.
9 Place the jack stand under the propeller shaft.
Note

Mark the holes where the screws are mounted.

10 Remove the screws and nuts.


11 Lower the propeller shaft.

12 Remove the screws.


13 Disconnect the front side of propeller shaft.
14 Lower the propeller shaft.
15 Apply a bead of sealant around the tip of the screws.
Required material
Glue, tape, sealant and locking fluid
16 Connect the front side of propeller shaft.
17 Install the screws and nuts.
Tightening torque
Transmission, screw Screw M14
160 ±20 Nm
Required material
TORQUE_WRENCH 88890150 1 pc
Note

Always use new screws and nuts.

Position the propeller shaft.

Place the jack stand under the propeller shaft.
20 Install the screws.
Note

Ensure that the screws are installed at the holes marked.

21 Torque tighten the screws.


Tightening torque
Propeller shaft guard, screw 175 ±30 Nm
Required material
TORQUE WRENCH 88890149
22 Apply a bead of sealant around the tip of the screws.
Required material
Glue, tape, sealant and locking fluid
23 Install the propeller shaft.
24 Install the screws and nuts.
25 Torque tighten the screws.
Tightening torque
Transmission, screw Screw M14
160 ±20 Nm
Required material
TORQUE_WRENCH 88890150
Note

Always use new screws and nuts.


26 Install the guard.
Tightening torque
Propeller shaft guard, screw 140 ±25 Nm
Required material
TORQUE_WRENCH 88890150
