1.0 INTRODUCTION

The purpose of this Method Statement for The Loading and Unloading of containers,
cable drums and other materials is to explain how the works will be carried out in a
safely manner and to follow the standard lifting procedure being implemented with
KAUST premises.

2.0 SAFETY

The important considerations for H&S are:


 Developing RAMS.
 Securing Permit to Work.
 Monitoring the preparation and execution of the work in a safely manner.
 Lifting procedure

3.0 PREPARATION AND EXECUTION

 The Loading, unloading and shifting preparation for the Jersey Barriers are the
following.
a) Low-bed trucks
b) Inspection of sling for the mobile crane
c) Mobile cranes (25T)
d) Certified mobile crane operator
e) Certified riggers
f) Flagman
g) Temporary signage and barricade
h) Certified bobcat
i) Certified forklift
Before start the work, first cordon off the area to where to load or unload the materials.

 Checking the capacity of the mobile crane.

 Checking the capacity of the low bed truck in which it can carry depending on
the axle load.
 Upon completing the required equipment and manpower for the activity, MMR
safety officer will conduct tool box talk in relation to the activity that will going to
perform.
 MMR will starts to barricade the area that will covered the lifting point prior to
the execution of the activities.
 Temporary signage will also be installed mentioning/informing lifting activities is
on-going.
 Upon completing the barricade and signage, MMR flagman then will give
direction to the low bed and mobile crane for their position.
 Final set-up and position will be commence by the operators for low bed and
mobile crane.
 Prior to the lifting activity, permits to work from the lifting location and to the
unloading location will be secure.
 Taking all necessary permits, loading and unloading will start.
 Lifting will start with the help of the rigger which gives the signal to the operator
to unload/load the materials on low bed trucks.
 With the guidance of rigger, the mobile crane operator will follow the signal.
 During the lifting, no person is allow to stay below the lifting activity.
 MMR will use certified bobcat and forklift to shift the material operated by
certified operators.
