INTRODUCTION

Good day, Panel and jury. I am VANESSA DELA TORRE, a Bs Architecture Student from TIP MANILA. And
today I am going to present my three proposal for architectural design 9.

PROPOSAL NO.1 : A davao public transport modernization project with the design approach , an
integrated transportation hub through adaptation of the new normal

BACKGROUND OF THE PROJECT

Davao city is a 1st class highly urbanized city in the island of Mindanao. It continues to grow as a premier
city in different fields and remains to be a safe homes for dabawenyos and for all. Davao City became
the regional administrative capital of Southern Mindanao; upon its reorganization as the regional capital
of the Davao Region and the sole highly urbanized city in Davao Region.

Davao city one of the main issue is the lack of public terminal, due to it’s growing population, the local
community indeed need a highly demand of mass transportation and public modern terminals.

This situation has arisen because

i) rapid urbanisation and ‘urban sprawl’ is outspacing the provision of appropriate public
transport services, and
ii) ii) little or no attention appears to have been given to the public transport needs of newly
forming communities.

Addressing all the needs and demand of the people there, particularly the modern public terminals can
be a great benefits of a local community and improved their travel lifestyles, giving comfortable and
sustainable modernization of a mass transportation project.

PROBLEM STATEMENT

The Department of Transportation that the P18-billion Davao Public Transport Modernization Project to
be completed by the third quarter of 2023.

The DPTMP is a project of the Department of Transportation (DOTr) and is targeted to be implemented
from 2020 to 2023.

It was approved by the NEDA Board, chaired by President Rodrigo Duterte,

The project will help spur and sustain development within and beyond Davao City.

CLIENT

The client will be the Local Government Unit of Davao City, and department of transportation address
that the strong demand for the new modernize bus transportation due to the rapid construction build
in the city and the number of private vehicles and the numbers of public vehicles utilizing the road and
streets, the road results to traffic congestions.
SITE JUSTIFICATION

The site is situated along the Diversion Road of Davao City and the lot has an estimated size of 3.51
hectare. The site is surrounded mostly by residentials and commercial buildings and institutionals.

INITIAL SITE SCHEMATIC


The initial site schematic diagram in site will have a different zoning and will be based according to the
design guidelines for the transit hub. The main building will be a terminal building for the operational
facility . And the second building will be the PUJ and PUVs station building. There will be also a bay
and unloading bays for the buses and jeepneys and the like. And there will be a public garden space for
the local community. This proposal will serve as the pick-up and drop off point for provincial buses. And
also the arriving and departure area.

PROPOSAL NO.2 : UP-PHILIPPINE GENERAL HOSPITAL DILIMAN PROJECT : WITH THE DESIGN
APPROACH , AN INTEGRATED MEDICAL AND RESEARCH CENTER THROUGH ADAPTATION OF NEW
NORMAL

BACKGROUND OF THE PROJECT

Philippines General Hospital Main located at the Taft Avenue, Manila is a tertiary stated-owned
administered and operated by the University of the Philippines-Manila. Philippine General hospital Main
is the largest training hospital in the whole country of the Philippines. The Philippine general hospital
served more than 600,000 patients every year annually and remains referral center for tertiary care.
Serving and providing quality service for the Filipinos for the whole nation.

PROBLEM STATEMENT

The Philippines general hospital main now is currently battling for covid-19 inpatients and outpatients
who admitted for treatment. Currently, the PGH stop accepting admitted Inpatients due to the rapid
growth of Covid Patients. The highest previous 250 bed-capacity of Philippine General Hospital Main has
now reached to it’s 266 admitted patients for treatments.

According to the data of Philippine General Hospital Demographics, The year 2020 and 2021 decreased
the size of patients due to the new implementation of new normal setup for the hospital and since
march 2020 there have been limited elective admissions. The whole year of 2020 of total data, the PGH
served more than 200,000 and for the first half of 2021, the PGH served more than 150,000 of Patients
who admitted.

CLIENT

University of the Philippines eyes on implementing a new general hospital in Diliman, Quezon City that
will cater a 700 bed and a research and teaching center to be a world class hospital in the country.
THE SITE

The site is located beside at Arboretum Forest of Diliman, Quezon City. The site has approximately 4.2
hectares fronting Central Avenue Road. The site has an existing hospitals/medicals nearby and research
institutionals.

INITIAL SITE SCHEMATIC DIAGRAM

The initial schematic design for the site is based on the design guidelines of the Department of health,
and also planning & circulation for the tertiary health care. The zoning will be divided into three
buildings, the main hospital with 700-bed and the administration offices. The next building will be for
the medical teaching for the medical students. And the next building will be for the research institutional
to focus on research initiatives that impact on national health policies. And the utilities building will be
for maintenance and STP.

PROJECT NO.3 : A PROPOSED CENTER FOR THE INDIVIDUAL WITH DISABILITIES AND REHABILITATION
CENTER

BACKGROUND OF THE PROBLEM

Disability is one of the main concern and priority of the county in the Philippines. Some people who are
disabled, don’t have a chance to go to school, work and socialize with other people. Aside from poverty,
disabled persons also face the discrimination and abuse from anyone. Disability have two classification,
the first one is Physical Disability and the second is Psychological Disability.

The proposal for the persons with disabilities in the location of Imus will benefit all the target potential
market. Including the vocational rehabilitation, while giving careful attention to cost effectiveness and
efficiency. The city of Imus will be a new home for the people with disabilities and giving them the job
possible opportunities. The local government of Imus will provide livelihood assistance and assist in
networking with offices and establishment for possible employment of Persons with disabilities and
participate in the evaluation of the project.

SITE JUSTIFICATION

The site will be located along the anabu kostal road of anabu imus cavite. And the lot has an estimated
size of 2 hectares. The site is open to all types of vehicles and mostly surrounded by residentials and
commercials and industrials zoning.

So this is the initial site schematic diagram for the project. The design guidelines will be based from the
legal laws such as Batas Pambansa 344 and Republic Act. No. 7277 the magna carta for disabled persons.
FOR PROJECT NO.1

1. WHY YOU CHOOSE THAT PROJECT?

I choose this proposal to provide a local community of comfortable and sustainable public terminals
along the busy throughfare of davao city business centers.

2. What type of occupancy is your project?

The type of occupancy for my proposal is ASSEMBLY GROUP A-3. It is the type of building that for the
gathering of a persons for purposes such as for social, functional, religious, recreation and waiting areas
for terminals.

3. What is the size of your choosin lot?

The size of lot for my choosin site was estimated at 3.51 hectare or 35,100 square meter.

4. What are the contribution of your project to the community ?

The main contribution for my project proposal are the economic as it can help to thrive the economic
society of davao, and can employ many people who are looking for job opportunities. Second, is the
health benefits of the local community as it helps the users to lessen the mortality rate and a happier
disposition and more productive at work. Third, will be a to lessen the road congestion, and to lessen
the using of gas and reduces pollution to urban. And also the freedom and mobility amplified, to give
everyone the freedom to go virtually anywhere. And also , the social connections increase where project
proposal aim.

5. What are the innovations and unique in your proposal?

The innovations for my project proposal is based on the rules of safety and health protocols of covid-19
disease. There will be a touchless electronic gates to avoid having contact with another person and
machines, and an automatic ticketing and automatic temperature scanner to allow users for a smooth
and speed transactions and to avoid the congestion inside.

The unique for my proposal will be having a green building and green public space garden for the users
to minimizes the harmful effects of pollution and disease on human health.

6. Project objectives ?

 To provide more travel convenient to all passengers and a friendly transportation mode.
 To provide them 24 hours security and safety .
 To provide more facilities such as foods stations, restaurants, shopping centers, comfortable
toilet and emergency facilities for the passengers.
 To promote and increase the development of a said project.
 To design a sustainable and energy efficiency of a proposal.
 To design a modernization of bus transportation public thru adaptation of new normal.
PROJECT NO.2

1. WHY YOU CHOOSE THAT PROJECT?

I choose this project proposal to minimize the rate and to design spaces with infection control, safety
and security protocols in mind. And also to give a local community an efficient and comfortable
environment and healing.

2. What type of occupany of your project?

The actual zoning for the site location is intended for open space and park, but the UP Board clarify that
the area is not part of Arboretum Forest and According to the UP Board Presentation to the Panel, there
will be also a relocation for the informal settlers who occupied the location before the construction will
start.

3. What is the size of your site?

According to the UP Board, the estimated size for the lot is 4.2 hecatres or 42,000 square meter.

4. What are the contributions of your project to the society?

There will be a new latest technology facilities and equipment for the admitted inpatients for their
treatment. And also the contribution for the project is to create an positive relaxing and healing
environment for the patients, and clean, and safety and securities.

5. What are the innovations and unique of your project?

The innovations for the project there will be an energy efficient such as solar cooling, it is one of the
most optimal ways for energy savings by lowering the air conditioning needs which lower the cost and
to provide a better financial management to the hospital and higher care for the environment.

6. Sustainable?

Creating also an environment-friendly for the patients affects the speed recovery of the patients to
shorten their hospital stays.

7. Project objective?

• To provide a comfortable and sustainable facility and fully equipment for the health workers.

• To provide a functional and efficient space for the health workers.

• To design and create a friendly humane environment for patients and staffs.
PROJECT NO.3

1. WHY YOU CHOOSE THAT PROJECT?

I choose this project proposal to give every persons with disabilities of friendly-environment and
sustainable center. And to ensure their equal rights and also their respect.

2. What type of zoning is your site?

The zoning for the location I choose is intended for industrial.

3. What is the size of your lot?

The estimated lot size for my project is 2 hectare or 20,000 square meter.

4. What are the contribution of your project to the society?

The project will benefits all the target user to have their education, because education has no limitation
and it is right for everyone. And also to promote the equal opportunities and outcomes in employment
for them and to also, ensuring all the persons with disabilities have their own community access,
communication and information.

5. What are the innovations and unique of your project?

The technology for the facility will be the E-Learning or “Electronic Learning” such as Distance E-
Learning, and Reading digital and audio libraries, for the students with disabilities. It will allow them to
continue living at home while they studying at home. It will benefits for them because it enhances the
effectiveness of teaching, developing life skills, complementing learning in special needs .

6. Project objective?

• To provide a health care facility for the individual with disabilities.

• To provide a comfortable and sustainable rehabilitation center.

• To experience the user’s an adaptation of a new normal design facility.

• To provide a health care workers a fully equipment of a facility.

• To provide an educational and training program for the special needs.

• To improve their quality of life gaining life management skills.

• To rebuild the social connectedness to family and community.
