This workbook is the final output of ALP (Alternative Learning Project) in lieu of ACE given the prolonged
class cancellations under CoVid-19. Each trainee is expected to have a copy of this workbook and must
complete it on or before April 30.

APEC trainees are expected to use this workbook and complete the targets. The workbook contains:
● the objectives of this project
● the weekly targets under the 6 week project delivery map
● the grading system
● the instruction slides that details what needs to be done per weekly target
● the specific templates for the trainees use and completion
● the sample output for SWOT, TOWS, and priority plan
● the reference links

APEC trainees are expected to work or consult his/her LF every 2 weeks. For support requirements,
trainees are instructed to proactively reach out to his/her LFs. The LFs are available within the Google
classroom schedule.

SWOT analysis
framework snapshot

SWOT analysis (or SWOT matrix) is a strategic planning technique used to help a person or
organization identify strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats.

The name is an acronym for the four parameters the technique examines:
● Internal (can be controlled or influenced by the person)
○ Strengths: characteristics of the person, business or project that give it an advantage over
others.
○ Weaknesses: characteristics of the person, business that place the business or project at

TOWS Strategy
framework snapshot

A TOWS analysis is a variant of a SWOT analysis and is an acronym for Threats, Opportunities,
Weaknesses and Strengths.

Similar to a SWOT, a TOWS analysis involves the identification of a person or an organisation’s


strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats. In TOWS analysis, matches internal factors to
external factors to help identify relevant strategic options that a person or an organisation could
pursue. It helps a person or an organisation to see how it can take advantage of opportunities,
reduce threats, overcome weaknesses and exploit any strengths

A TOWS is a commonly used strategic planning tool and can add real value to a person or an
organisation, helping to take strategic planning one step further.

2. Copy your top 2 strategies to the template (see slide 34); the template will only host 8 strategies all
in all, so just put in 8 strategies from your TOWS (see slide 31):
a. Top 2 strategies under Strength-Opportunity (SO)
b. Top 2 strategies under Strength-Threat (ST) Strategies
c. Top 2 strategies under Weakness-Opportunity (WO) Strategies
d. Top 2 strategies under Weakness-Threat (WT) Strategies
3. Rate the 8 strategies from 1 to 8; 8 for the least priority and 1 for the highest priority (see slide 34)
4. Copy your top 1 and top 2 priority in the post-graduation plan template (see slide 35-36)
5. Write and complete your post-graduation plan (see slide 35-36):
a. use the sample provided (see slide 40-41) as a guide
b. write specific activities under the ACTIVITIES box; each activity must be written as an action and must begin
with a verb
c. write a target that can be accomplished 12 months from the creation of the plan; ideally, activities should be
delivered/fulfilled within 1 to 4 months from SHS graduation, so that the support availability is higher and
more realistic
d. write specific support requirements; name the people or resources that could help you accomplish your target
