RESPONSIBLE USE OF SOCIAL MEDIA

FREEDOM OF SPEECH
Every person has the natural right to freely express themselves through any media and frontier
without outside interference.
PROS
-protects each of us from the influence of special interests.
-eliminates compelled actions.
-promotes the free exchange of ideas.
-can expose immoral or unlawful activities
-prevents the requirement to behave specific ways.
-advances knowledge for a society.
-allows for peaceful changes in society.
 gives us an opportunity to challenge hate.
-creates resiliency.

CONS
-does not mean the freedom to have “all” speech.
-can spread false information.
-can incite violence against other people.
-creates a paradox.
-can create a mob mentality.
-can cause people to endure verbal abuse.
-will eventually polarize society.
-reduces the desire to compromise.

there should be some limits in place for the general good of society. Allowing people to say or
do whatever they want at any time increases the risk for harm.
