8 2. SYSTEM DESCRIPTION
9 The Hassi Bir Rekaiz (HBR) is located in the Algerian Sahara, approximately 129 km to the eastern of of the giant oilfield at Hassi Messaoud (HMD).
10 The Hassi Bir Rekaiz development project is an upstream project which Phase 1 development consisting of Well Sites (WS),
11 Gathering Stations (GS) and a Gathering Hub (GH) with multiphase flow to Rhourde El Baguel (REB) via pipeline. In Phase 2, the additional facilities,
12 pipelines and related infrastructure will be installed in accordance with full field development plan.

29 3. CHEMICAL INJECTION PACKAGE FOR GATHERING HUB
30 This package consists of 1 chemical to be injected into the pipeline.
31 The chemicals listed below are assumed to be undiluted.
32
33 3.1 Corrosion inhibitor
34 Required to prevent corrosion from the presence of water and carbon dioxide in the carbon steel pipeline
35 Corrosion inhibitors are typically a blend of quaternary ammonium compounds, filming amines and surfactants.
36 An injection rate at operating temprature between 50 and 100°C is normally 100 ppmv (undiluted) based on water portion.
37
38 B1 Properties to be confirmed by EPC contractor: (Hold-1)
39 -Liquid density is typically 909 kg/m³.
40 -Viscosity (Cp) is 21 @ 20ºC
41 -Vapour Pressure is 0.001 bara @ 20°C

2 4. CHEMICAL INJECTION REQUIREMENTS

3 A skid mounted chemical injection package is to be installed on each HBR Gathering Hub, for the injection of 1 chemical. The chemicals will be pumped from the storage tank to injection points at
manifold. The package will consist of one storage tank. The tank should be mounted with 2x 100% Positive Displacement (duty/standby) chemical injection pumps (Note 9) mounted on a single skid.
4 The tank shall be able to be vented to atmosphere at a safe location away from personnel access. The pumps and package shall be capable of remote monitor shutdown and restart.

2 5.0 NOTES
3 The general requirements for the Chemical Injection Package are as follows:
4 1 Supplier to offer electric driven chemical injection pumps.
5 2 Pump may continue to operate with no net forward flow for extended period. Vendor to provide control / relief device to
6 allow pump to operate without damage.
7 3 Relief valves on each pump discharge, rated for full flow of pump.
8 4 Integral relief valves are not acceptable but may be provided in addition to external discharge relief device.
9 5 Structural steel skid (painted) with drip pan and drain connection. Skid drains shall be terminated and routed
10 (by others) to Gathering hub the open drains collection system. To be confirmed by the EPC contractor.
11 6 All materials of construction to be Stainless Steel
12 7 The design capacity is based on production rate in phase 2 with minimum 14 days chemical storage capacity
13 which is considered sufficient.
14 8 Pump relief valve discharge to be routed to the storage tank.
15 9 Chemicals are normally pumped using a low capacity, multi-headed (feeding multiple users at different injection pressures) , positive
16 displacement reciprocating type, variable stroke metering pumps. A single electric motor may drive a pump unit that is fitted
17 with several "heads". Each head is effectively an independent pump and has its own suction and discharge system.
18 10 Sketch shown on page 5 of 5 is indicative only. For details on requirments refer to respective P&ID's
