Launching Program for


MONHS-RCY SCHOOL BASED SUPPLEMENTAL FEEDING PROGRAM

The MONHS-RCY Organization conducted a Launching Program for the School Based
Supplemental Feeding program spearheaded by MONHS-RCY Organization as one of the
programs/projects initiated by the organization.

This program aims to help in rehabilitating the identified severely wasted Grade 7 students
of the Misamis Occidental National High School through supplemental feeding for 35 days.

To formally start the project, a Launching Program was held last October 10, 2019 at around
3:00 in the afternoon at TLE Bakery Area. The program was participated by the students
who are recipients for the feeding program and was facilitated by the RCY officers and
members.

During the said activity, Mrs. Mellen Joy Lood, the public school nurse of MONHS presented
the comprehensive and very informative lectures on nutrition. She also includes the topic on
proper hand washing and proper hygiene as it also affects the health of the students.
Especially, this simple yet important method is very crucial in preventing the spread of
diseases.

She discussed the different types of foods that a student need to eat to achieved a desired
and healthy weight. She also discouraged the student against junk foods and unhealthy
diets. She also taught them on the different ways to ensure proper hygiene such as regular
bathing to remove dirt and microbes from our body. It also prevents body odors and gives
refreshed feelings. Then, she also gives emphasis on regular tooth brushing and other dental
hygiene. As our mouth harbors different kinds of bacteria, it is important to make it clean to
prevent tooth decays and infections. Hand washing was also important topic discussed by
the public school nurse, she reiterated the importance of hand washing as it is crucial in the
prevention of the spread of illness and diseases especially among students. Proper hand
washing techniques was also demonstrated for the participants to practice in their
respective classrooms.

Then, after the program, the recipients proceed to the hand washing area for their hand
washing as Mrs. Lood demonstrated the proper way of doing it.

Then, Mrs. Dulalas, Mr. Albios, Mrs. Tabania and Mrs. Lood served the feeding materials for
the recipients assisted by the RCY Officers.

The program was ended by closing remarks by Mr. Raffy Albios and a prayer by Mrs. Dulalas.
