This study aimed to determine the effect of group guidance services on independence and decision making in career selection for 8th grade students at SMPN 5 Percut Sei Tuan. The experimental group received 7 sessions of group guidance treatment, while the control group received no treatment. Testing found that the experimental group showed significantly higher gains in independence and career decision making compared to the control group.

This study aims to determine the effect of Group Guidance Service on
Independent Decision Making in Class VIII Student Career Selection at SMPN 5 Percut Sei Tuan. The research method used was a Quasi experimental design nonequivalent control group design. The experimental group received treatment in the form of 7 group guidance sessions which held onceor twice a week. The control group did not receive any treatment. The populations in this study were students of class VIII SMPN 5 Percut Sei Tuan As many as 102 students. The sampling technique used was non-probability sampling with purposive sampling form. The students who were the samples in this study were 20 people who were in the low category on the score of decision making in career selection. The instrument used in determining the sample of this study was the decision making instrument in career selection with five choices on a Likert scale, consisting of 65 valid items with Cronbach's alpha of 0.847 for the reliability. Statistical data analysis techniques which performed is using descriptive statistics with the empirical mean to see the average pretest and posttest scores in the experimental group and the control group. Hypothesis testing is done using the Wilcoxon signed rank test, by comparing the gain scores of the pretest and posttest in the experimental group and the control group. The results of hypothesis testing indicate that is 0.03, which means that through these results calculations that sig 0.03 <0.05, meaning that the increasing of Independent Decision Making in Career Selection for Class VIII Students at SMPN 5 Percut Sei Tuan for the treatment group is higher than the control group.

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh Pengaruh Layanan Bimbingan
Kelompok Terhadap Kemandirian Pengambilan Keputusan Pada Pemilihan Karir Siswa Kelas VIII Di SMPN 5 Percut Sei Tuan. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah Quasi ekperimen design nonequivalent control group design. Kelompok eksperimen menerima perlakukan berupa 7 sesi bimbingan kelompok yang diselenggarakan satu atau dua kali dalam seminggu. Kelompok kontrol tidak menerima perlakuan. Populasi dalam penelitian ini adalah siswa Kelas VIII SMPN 5 Percut Sei Tuan tahun sebanyak 102 orang siswa. Teknik sampling yang digunakan adalah non-probability sampling dengan bentuk purposive sampling. Siswa yang menjadi sampel dalam penelitian ini adalah 20 orang dengan skor pengambilan keputusan pada pemilihan karir berada dalam kategori rendah. Instrumen yang digunakan dalam menentukan sampel penelitian ini adalah instrumen Pengambilan keputusan pada pemilihan karir dengan lima pilihan dalam skala likert yang terdiri 65 butir valid dengan reliabilitas menggunakan cronbach’s alpha sebesar 0,847. Teknik analisis data statistik dilakukan dengan menggunakan statistik deskriptif dengan menggunakan mean empiris untuk melihat rata-rata skor pretest dan posttest pada kelompok eksperimen dan kelompok kontrol. Pengujian hipotesis dilakukan dengan menggunakan Uji Wilcoxon signed rank test, dengan membandingkan gain score dari pretest dan posttest pada kelompok eksperimen dan kelompok kontrol. Hasil pengujian hipotesis menunjukkan bahwa nilai sebesar 0.03, yang berarti melalui hasil perhitungan tersebut maka diperoleh kesimpulan bahwa sig 0.03 < 0.05, Artinya peningkatan Kemandirian Pengambilan Keputusan Pada Pemilihan Karir Siswa Kelas VIII Di SMPN 5 Percut Sei Tuan kelompok treatment lebih tinggi dibandingkan kelompok kontrol.
