a. Greetings.
Awareness b. Let the students to arrange their chairs properly.
c. Checking of an attendance.
Let the learners do the following:

A. Find the sum of the harmonic series

1. ½+ ¼ +1/6+…+1/12
Activity
2. First term is 1 and 6th term is 1/21
3. 4/9+2+4/7+2/3+4/5
4. First term is 6/11 and 4th is
Analysis Localization:

For Geometric Sequence:

Procedure Nigel saves Php2.00 in the first week of the Year and he doubles
the amount he saves every week after that. How much will he save in
the 2nd , 3rd, 4th, and 5th week of the year?
1st 2nd 3rd 4th 5th
Date Week Week Week Week Week
Amount
Saved

For Arithmetic Sequence:

A display of books in a library shelf consists of 10 books on the
bottom, 8 books in the next row, and so on in an arithmetic sequence,
until the top row has 2 books.  How many books, in total are in
display?
Group the learners into 5 and let each group think on how to solve the
following problems.

1. You own a fruit stand. To make your display more

attractive, you stack the apples in the shape of a
square pyramid with 10 layers. Starting the top
layer, there is only one apple, the second layer has
4 apples, and so on. Write a rule for the number of
apples in each layer.
2. The first row of the concert hall has 30 seats and
each row after the first has one more seat than the
row before it. There are 40 rows of seats.
 Write the equation for the number of seats in the nth
row.
 One class of 50 students wants to seat in one row.
In what row will they seat?
 What is the capacity of the hall if there are 40 rows?
3. An auditorium has 20 rows of seats. There are 15
seats in front row, 16 seats in the second row, 7
seats in the third and so on, how many seats are
there on the 20th row? What is the total number of
seats in the auditorium?

End the discussion by reflecting the quotation stated in the

values above “Life is a sequence of events whether you
perceive those events as good or bad in
your choice, but it is in a sequence.” Then, tell them a
short story of a real person who can say that his life is in a
sequence.

Problems involving sequence are problems related to real

Abstraction life experiences and solvable using the concept of
sequences, in solving the given you need to follow the
Polya’s method in solving word problem.
Solve the following problems.

2. How much is your money after 5 years if you invest
PHP10, 000.00 at 5% interest compounded yearly?
Solve this problem.
