A Lesson Plan in Grade 10

I. Objective
a. State the measures of positions; Quartile, Decile, Percentile.
b. Calculate the specified measures of position.
c. Interpret the measures of position and analyze the mini-research data in taking drugs.

II. Subject Matter


Topic: Measures of Position for Grouped Data
Reference: LM10, e-math,
Materials: Bond paper, calculator

III. Procedure
A. Preparation
 Do morning routine inside the classroom
 Call a volunteered student to recall the previous discussion and give us insights.

B. Presentation
The teacher will group the class into three. Each group has leader and each member has task to
do. (The topic was given yesterday)
Group 1 will report quartile for grouped data
Group 2 will report decile for grouped data
Group 1 will report percentile for grouped data
Only the leaders will exchange and discuss within the groups. (Jigsaw Approach)

Gather their ideas of measures of positions for grouped data through asking and guide to the
concrete concept of measures of positions.
Ask the students how related the measures of position in real life situation like in BJMP,
1. How many detained person in jail arrested related in drugs?
2. What happen if you take drugs?
3. What is the reason or factors why you take drugs?
4. What are your options if someone offered you drugs at school?
5. What can you do when it is hard to say "no" when drugs are offered over and
over?

Volunteers will be called to do the following.

Conduct a mini- research in the community of Brgy. Jaguimit, City of Naga, Cebu someone using
drugs especially shabu and marijuana. Group 1 will focus on Shabu and Group 2 will focus on
Marijuana.
Calculate the 3rd quartile, 70th percentile, 50th percentile, 6thdecile, and 8th decile.
