In thermal power plant cycle the feed pumps are placed in the feed water system and are
intended to deliver the feed water to the boiler. 100% availability of these pumps is essential to
run the plant.
This pump delivers feed water at higher pressure against boiler resistance, through feed control
station. The feed control station regulates the feed water flow according to drum level. The BFPs
are rated to deliver 91.8 m3 /hr. & 28.9 m3/hr feed water against a head of 960 mtrs & 920 mtrs
and is driven by 375 KW & 150 KW, 2980 rpm motors.
Technical Data
Type of pump: Diffuser
Feed water temperature: 120 Deg.C
Flow rate: 91.8 & 28.9 TPH
Developed head: 960 & 920 Mtrs
Speed: 2980rpm
Net positive suction head: 10.2 Mtrs
Recirculation flow: 23 & 7 TPH
Direction of Rotation: CCW from Motor DE for both the BFP.
NOTE*
Observe Motor currents shouldn’t exceed >596 & 240 amps.
When the Motor currents have crossed 596 & 240 amps and tending to increase, inform
Shift In charge or Boiler Desk Operator.
Don’t allow the Pump to start or run with Protection interlock bypass.
STARTING PERMISSIVES:
Ensure the following permissive at DCS & Local.
Discharge valve is in closed position.
Deaerator level is not low >900mm
DP across suction strainer is not high.
