Dear Diary

What a wonderful day it was, I am in a very moody mood today because tomorrow is Diwali and
everyone in my house is busy with their work. the house is being cleaned, items are being prepared
for worship and slowly all my relatives are coming to make Diwali with us. I am very excited that all
my relatives will meet together and I will be having fun with my cousin's sisters so I always keep
waiting for this festival. but the big twist in this Diwali is I have planned this Diwali celebration
differently, which will ne unique, safe, and good for everyone. with the covid 19 pandemic and the
increased air pollution, I think that we must approach a green style towards this year's Diwali
celebration because different cities in India are facing the burnt of increased air pollution and we
must aware, protect and preserve mother India. this can be successful only when we celebrate all
eco-friendly Diwali from house to house. so for that reason, I had planned to celebrate this Diwali
with my family and relatives in a more eco-friendly way

Diwali is a festival of lights. this is one of the most awaited festivals in India. traditionally this festival
is known as the triumph of good over evil. families come together, bond, pray, make sweets,
exchange gifts, and share a good laugh.it is such a pure and beautiful festival where the entire house
is hit up with fires and candles. but in the present day, this festival has become more chaotic.

So we start focusing on celebrating the festival with family for fun more than focusing on sources
like firecrackers. so we all decided to use oil diyas or lamps instead of electric lights. nothing is more
beautiful than the diyas of oil and we all try to avoid candles as well because they cannot be reused
for a long period. also, they are petroleum-based and release toxins during burning to affect air
quality and we all plan to make natural rangolis because people have started using chemical loaded
colours to make their rangolis. this year we decide to use more natural colours in our rangoli, so I
gave the idea to use turmeric, coffee powder, kumkum etc for colours like yellow, brown, and res
and my sister also said to use flowers and leaves to enhance the look.

And this Diwali we all says a complete no to firecrackers. We all will celebrate it by lighting sky
lanterns. Fill up balloons with sprinkles and colour papers which was a good idea.

We discourage buying things that are not required. I do not clutter my home.

It leads to the consumption of raw materials used in the products. The natural resources were good
and will lead to extinction. We decided to use bio-degradable plate/banana leaves to serve the
guests. This way we can add a traditional touch to this festive season. We use Mud glasses instead of
glass and plastic to add an ethnic feeling. We decided this Diwali to gift organic products to our near
and dear ones. So we decided to make a gift hamper that includes organic items like soaps and
creams, tea, coffee, spices, gourmet ice creams, bags, jewellery, decorative items, paintings,
handicraft items, etc. It also expresses our love and care for the environment. we also decide to
Distribute sweets or any other food in reusable containers or paper bags.
I gave a better idea to Gift Plants. There are several ornamental plants available in the market so we
sisters decide to go to the market and buy some stuff. This way we all planned an eco-friendly Diwali
and enjoyed Diwali the next day in a very unique manner with our relatives and friends.

I will write more the next day.
