METHODOLOGY POSSIBLE QUESTIONS

 RESEARCH INSTRUMENTS

What are the 3 instrument that you used in gathering your datas for your study?
*in order -Inter questionnaires -Audio Recording -Field Notes
State a citation regarding to your triangulation and explain.
- (Patton, 1999) use of multiple methods or data sources in qualitative research to develop a
comprehensive understanding of phenomenon.
What is triangulation? How will you achieve triangulation?
- The use of multiple approaches to study a topic is known as triangulation in research. The
term "triangulation" is often used to describe research methods and designs. To triangulate,
each evaluator will use the same qualitative approach to examine the curriculum (interview,
observation, case study, or focus groups). Each evaluator's results will be contrasted.
How will you ensure the trustworthiness of your data? By using?
- We collected data using the triangulation method, which included an interview, a
questionnaire, an audio recorder, and fieldnotes.
Is it essential to use the 3 instruments in gathering data?
- Yes, it is essential for us to be able to gather more data in different ways and we have more
basis in collecting data. To make our data more valid, precise and accurate.
What is the purpose of research instruments?
- The purpose of our / the research instrument is to gather and collect data from our
participants for our chosen topic / topic interest.
Why did you use semi-structured interview for your qualitative research?
- We used semi structured interviews so that we can ask open ended questions to the
participants rather than a straight question. They can justify and expand further on their
responses so that we are satisfied with the information we obtained from them.
Describe your interview questionnaire?
- Our interview questionairre is in the form of semi structured interviews which Means it
doesn't follow any strict formalized list of questions. So we ask them in an open ended
question rather than asking them In a straight- forward question.
What is the importance of interview questionnaire?
- Just By reading the interview sheet, by reading the interview, you can gain a better
understanding of the study's purpose and how we can measure the participants' actions,
attitudes, preferences, and opinions.
What make this instrument fit to the study?
- due to the fact that these instruments are used in research. Data is reliably obtained and
confirmed through the use of these instruments. These instruments are used to gather
accurate data that will be analyzed later.
What is the importance of field notes?
- The importance of field notes is that when you have an interview with a participant is that
you can list down the needed information for your study and also to record their
behaviors, attitudes, and other things that should be observed while conducting the
research.

What is the importance of audio recording?

- The value of audio recording is that it allows us to collect detailed and precise
information from participants. We do this to ensure that no information or context is lost.

What Is the Interview Method of Research?

Answer: Interview research usually involves the interviewer asking a series of questions which
are then recorded in some manner.

 RESEARCH SETTING

1.) Why did you choose this place as your setting?

- We choose Talamban, Cebu City as our setting since we can gather abundant
information from the participants in this area due to its population. Talamban is also one
of the barangays in Cebu with the most reported Covid cases. Therefore, this place will
help us achieve the objectives of our study.
2.) What makes your setting fit to your study?
- There are a lot of Covid-19 cases in this crowded area thus many people or families are
affected and provides a conducive atmosphere for the researchers to gather accurate
and reliable data.

 RESEARCH DESIGN

Why the research design used is fit to the study?

- The research design that we used is fit to the study because we used the Qualitative
method which gives a unique depth of understanding which is difficult to gain from a
closed question survey. That makes Respondents able to freely disclose their
experiences, thoughts and feelings without constraint which is what we need to fully
understand their experience and to fully get our data for our Research. The research
Design also makes extensive use of phenomenology, it focuses on the field of health.
Its main purposes of phenomenological research are to seek reality from individuals'
Epidemics and pandemics of various infectious diseases have almost always given rise
to the stigma against the sufferers.
Explain the Important Concepts in Research Design?
- Answer: It is important to be familiar with the important concepts relating to research
design.
Components of Research Design?
- They are: Dependent and Independent variables, Extraneous variable, Control,
Confounded relationship.

 RESEARCH PARTICIPANTS

How will you choose your participants? – The selection of participants was based on
purposive sampling.
Define purposive sampling
- Purposive sampling is a form of non-probability sampling, also called judge mental,
selective, or subjective sampling. In purposive sampling the researchers depend on their
own judgment when choosing members to participate in their study (Foley, 2018).
Who will be your participants?
- The participants that were selected to take part in this study are families who have a
covid-19 positive member in Barangay Talamban, Cebu City.
What are the criteria in choosing your participants? Why purposive sampling fit or
appropriate to use in your study?
- the criteria of the participants are as follows, people who belong to the shanty town or
squatter areas, people who experienced poverty especially families who have a covid-19
positive member, people who face social stigma
- Purposive sampling is appropriate for our study because it reflects the experiences of
people who lived in poverty, especially families with a covid-19 positive member.
How many expected number of participants? Why?
- In our study, the expected number of participants are around 6 to 10 since we only need
small quantity of participants to have an accurate data and since sampling is not
required in qualitative research

Describe the usage of transcription in analyzing the data.

- it creates a text-based version of any original audio or video recording.
- it makes the information into text-based format and makes data easier to analyze and share.
What is thematic analysis? - methods in analyzing data

What is the first phase in thematic analysis? - transcription

What part of thematic analysis is the audio recording? - transcription

3 parts of thematic analysis-transcription, coding and themes
How will you choose your participants? - The selection of participants was based on purposive
sampling.

How will you analyze your data?

One of the most common approaches for analyzing qualitative data is content analysis. It is
used to examine documents in the form of texts, media, and even physical objects. For us to
able to understand and know the deeper meaning of the content in our research study.
